Good guns especially for the price. The 910 is just the ban state version. The use the standard smith mags. The 908 is better for CCW as that's the updated 3913.

I have a 915 great pistol.

Neither one is actually a 3rd Gen. The 915 was a transitional model before the Value Line. 915 has a little less machining on the slide but is still all metal parts. Also has a lugged barrel.

Value Line 910 still a great pistol. No lugs on the barrel and some plastic parts.

Here's a thread over at S&W Forum with some comparison pics. Post #15

Good link thanks for posting it. It clearly shows the sifferences between the 910 and 915. Makes deciding between the two, if you have an option, easy IMO

Either way, if the price is right, they're both excellent pieces.

I once acquired a 5946 (DAO) for $220, and it was a good piece. Not a S&W 3rd Gen fan but the thing shot VERY well with a good, smooth DA trigger, far more workable than most DAOs.

I'd buy either or both at that price.

I paid $375 two years ago for my 915 with box papers and 2 magazines. This past year I paid $400 for a 3913 with 2 magazines, box/papers and some spare parts.

Most of the good ones are LEO trade ins so they show holster wear but little use.

Parts with the 915 are pretty much the same as 3rd Gen S&W, so there aren't many issues there. Some you may have to wait for but generally not a problem.

Some of the plastic parts for the Value Line (910) are getting hard to find (saw a problem getting a magazine catch nut the other day) but you don't often need to replace anything any way. Those guns just keep on working. I'd still buy one.

Once you make your decision, post some pictures if you can. Always like to see them.

The guy wants $230, which is hardly more than a surplus 9x18 gun.
I'd jump on a 915 for that price. I have a 915 and really like it. The first pull of the trigger is DA and not bad, although long. The following pulls in SA are great with a very short reset. MecGar makes 15 and 17 round mags for them.

I would gladly get one or the other for 230. If he had both for that price I would probably give him 470 so he had an extra ten spot for lunch on me.

That said if I was planning in using it only at the range and running alot of ammunition through it and only getting one, I would probably go for a 5906TSW.
