I have a set of Triji's on my G19...I don't think they are the HD model. I bought them a couple years ago. I don't really like them to be honest. They're okay at night...but during the day I find them difficult to pick up. Especially when it's dark...but not pitch black. Then they're REALLY hard to pick up.

I'm not 100% sold on the need for night sights, particularly since this weapon will probably be sporting a TLR-1 or TLR-3 most of the time. But I want some new, metal sights, and it looks like (and PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong) that if you want such a thing, and don't want to go with fiber optic sights, all thats left is night sights.

I know a lot of companies make these....and I'm sort of lost. Right now I'm leaning to Meps over Trijicons but...anyone else have any sights they recommend? I like the idea of having a slightly smaller front sight and more "air space" in the rear notch for more precision...but it isn't a deal breaker as I'm not usually going to shoot this past 25 yards.

So...what do you guys recommend? This pistol will be shot during the day 95% of the time (the other 5% I may take it out at night just for the sake of practicing at night)...so I need sights that I can easily pick up during the day. But they also need to be metal...and tritium couldn't hurt.

Requirements:

1. Metal
2. Fixed Sight
3. Easier than non-hd trijicons to pick up during the day (either a better white outline, or different sight picture altogether)
4. Rugged/reliable
5. No fiber optic

How do you guys like the Trijicon HDs? Never tried them out.

Thanks!

I have had good results with the TFOs from TruGlo and the Big Dots.

Thanks. Not interested in big dots due to lack of precision or truglo cause I don't care for fiber optics in a defensive gun

They have standar dots too.
Ameriglo I Dot Pros are also outstanding.

I'll check those out, thanks.

Anyone have experience with Trijicon HD sights?

Ameriglo CAP sights. You CANNOT ignore the yellow-bar rear / yellow-square front. The tritium dot in the front sight is a bonus, in that you are night-capable without compromising daytime shooting. I have NEVER used a better sight setup, and I've had Trijicon, Meprolight, Tru-Glo TFO, Glock OEM (both steel and tritium) and even Hi-Viz.

Trijicon HD and Ameriglo i-Dot Pro are very similar. Trijicon makes the tritium inserts for Ameriglo. You can pick up i-Dot Pros for as little as $79 or so (see Grabagun web)...even cheaper if running a Hack setup.

Me personally ...I don't like any color on my rear sight. Here are some of mine with i-Dot Pros

For day/night defensive sights that do not lack precision I would recommend Ameriglo operators. Also you could just get a set of steel OEM Glock sights. I have a TRL-1s on my G21SF and it's equipped with the steel OEM sights. They work great with the TRL in low light conditions.

That's one heck of a Glock collection! I can't help but envy a "gill gun" with a great set of sights!! That's awesome.

Can't help you as I don't usually carry a pistol with nite sights in the daytime. My "go to" carry pistol is a Sig P239 in .357SIG. It has the standard factory sights which have actually become my favorite sights for use 24/7.

I have the above HD sight in yellow. It is very easy to pickup visually and I shoot well with it. As far as color, the yellow stood out to me more than the orange, but either is good. The shop that I purchased them from had both colors mounted on slides for customers to handle. You might check to see if a shop near you does that same.

+1 on the ameriglo pro I-dot. They work great in high sunlight and darkness. Plus I personally prefer the 2-dots over three.
I really like those. I have 0 experience in shooting 2 dot configuration but it looks interesting.

I think I'm gonna go with the triji HDs. How does front sight size compare to the meps? Is the triji hd a lot bigger?

Any advice on orange vs yellow?

I don't suppose anything exists similar to the triji hds but white?

I love my Trijicon HDs and highly recommend them. The yellow color works great with good contrast between sight and target.
