:tequila:I just got off the telephone with Glock USA. I'm in the process to purchase a NIB Glock 30 sf. Glock informed me that the New Glock 30sf Gen 4 WILL be released some time this year. I guess I'm gonna wait till it's released. I want that Gen 4.

Hello phillyr121, welcome to Glock Talk. Thanks for the intel report from a Glock, Inc. source.

The posts quoted below are recent intel collected by GT members from Glock, Inc. sources that I've read regarding release of the Gen4 G30 45ACP.

Got this email today..
Hello, We do have the following models to be produced this year (2012): G29 (10mm subcompact), G30 (.45 subcompact), and the G33(.357 subcompact) in the Gen. 4 models. I do not have a specific date yet, but it will be this year for those models. Keep checking back with us or our website: US.GLOCK.COM. Thank you,

Very nice, I bought my first Glock Friday, G21 Gen4 and will be adding a G30 Gen4 when they come out. Could not find release info for G30 Gen4 so I called Glock and "Best Guess" based on everything he was seeing production & order wise, "Best Guess" was 150 days which would make it late September, early October so fingers crossed. Also new to the board & this is my first post so, Hello everyone.

Just so not to confuse other readers, the Gen4 G30 45ACP will not be issued in a separate SF model; one marked SF on the frame like the Gen3 G30SF.

When the Gen4 G30 is available, the Gen4 frame without a backstrap adapter installed is expected to be the same dimensions as the Gen3 G30SF. The same correlation exists between the frame size of the Gen3 G21SF and the Gen4 G21 currently in production.

The Gen4 frame has a different, more aggressive grip texture (RTF3) around the entire circumference of the grip, a larger mag release button that is reversible for left hand shooters, and two backstrap adapters to increase the grip dimension front-to-back (2mm & 4mm). The Gen4 G30 may come with the "•" connector and will include three, 10-rnd magazines.

Good info, million dollar question: Will it have the same thickness at the muzzle end of the gun as the current Glock 30, and what I'm really asking is will I be able to (as I have already done with my current Glock 30sf) take the upper off the Glock 36 and then put it on the (this) lower to make the AWESOME 36/30 hybrid? You can't do it (and have it look right) with the gen three to a gen four gun as the gen four has more material cut out of the frame at the front to accomadate the thicker recoil spring. BUT the Glock 30 already has that type recoil spring, so I'm hopeing...... Or better yet, Glock (I keep hearing rumors at Glock armorer school re-certification) might just make this gun a Factory issued weapon - instead of us poor slobs having to do it ourselves.

Who knows, Glock may totally surprise us and release the Gen4 G30 that comes standard with a narrower slide (similar to the G36 slide). However, if the Gen4 G30 slide can't be easily and safely converted to 10mm with a barrel swap or wide enough to mount a Trijicon RMR like the Gen3 G30/30SF, I will be exceedingly disappointed (i.e., mad as hell).

The good news is Glock is releasing a new 30S that will incorporate the 36 slide and a 30 frame. LAPD has a batch, or is getting some (so my PD buddy says)..,
