i feel glocks are like the corvettes of the sports cars. inexpensive and run great. but it sure is nice to own and run a ferrari (a quality 1911) from time to time, but the maintenance required can be costly and it may let you down when you least expect it.

so both may be guns (sports cars for the analogy), but i dont think you can compare them due to their differences in prices and their differences in complexities. just my opnion.
Maybe like the 70s Corvettes. Definitely not C5 or C6.

I must be a weirdo cause I actually miss the cleaning process of my 1911 when I had one. Other then periodically chasing the plunger across the room, it was fun and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process. Glocks just take to little time to clean!!

I've had occasion to pistol whip people with both types.

The Glock disassembled itself on the second stroke.

The 1911 just kept chugging away until the bad guy relented.

I'll take the durable steel weapon FTW thank you.

You can definitely come to my house and clean my 1911 when I'm done with it.

Different shooter has different preference. But I won't judge two different guns base on cleaning time along. Just like I won't say a stick is better than a Glock because it's clean-free.

I view the 1911 and the Glock as total opposites. Its like two design teams starting from scratch with both teams completely unaware of the other, but with a common goal. Interchangeability of parts, toughness and durability and the ability to be used well by most people. I would say both teams succeeded.
