A picture is worth a thousand words. In otherwords, show me the grips and I can tell you how to get them off....

are you sure these are not the type that slip on and use the wedge device to apply enough spread to install? If so the grip simply need to be pried gently from the frame. These grips will show the backstrap (i.e. the backstrap is not enclosed by rubber).

Here are two tutorials for different grip styles:

Wedge

Bottom Screw

FWIW, my 686p came with the bantam style grips which used the wedge.

Hope this helps

i cant see the screw, the washer on the right side is there but where the screw head should be on the left its just rubber and no scre on bottom
Is there a line indicating that the grip is two halves? If so, and you do not see a screw, can you try to pry them off? It is possible that the screw came out and due to the sticky nature of the rubber and added debris, that the grip is just stuck together.

Otherwise without a screw hole in the bottom I would bet that the grip will need to be spread as in the wedge style. I am sure that you could use just about anything to do the job without damaging the frame or marking it.

looks like it actually just having trouble getting it off and thereis a screw washer on one end so got to be something under there

i feel dumb that washer is a hex screw opposite most other guns wow okay prob solveds
glad you figured it out.

Now if you really want to have fun do what I did to your 686...

I read somewhere about someone that took a standard dot XS sight and married it with a Cylinder and Slide Extreme Duty fixed rear sight...rugged combat night sight system for a revolver. Did it to mine and love it! No problems with POA, etc

One thing ill want is a trigger job, the triggers smooth but real stiff. I heard the service action job clark does is real good and i could gt moon clips while im at it.
Best trigger job is shooting. It will smooth out over time.As for moon clips, your cylinder has to be cut for them.Do you mean speed loaders?
