Planning on acquiring a nice G19 with 3 pins soon. Just wondering if anyone knows (or has an educated guess) on when (approximate date) the first 3-pin G19's appeared. I believe they must have been gen 3, not gen 2.5. Thanks in advance!

got a 1999 2-pin G19 3rd gen.
there waere also 3 pin G19s gen.3 models (the later ones)
the 3rd pin is completely unnecessary for the 9mm caliber for the G17 / G19, it just was added (and necessary there) for the larger calibers and due to simplify the production process the newer gock 17 / 19 of 3rd. gen. models were produced also with the extra locking block pin.

if you want to purchase a 9mm glock, the 3rd pin is not a buying argument, cause it is totally unnecessary for 9mm, but for larger calibers like .40 / 10 auto etc. it should definitely have the 3rd. pin.

Yeah, 2002 sounds about right for the 9mm's.

You can find out VERY CLOSELY when your older gun was made, if you have a smartphone (internet with browser) with you when you go.

Just hit this thread:

You use the serial number on the glock, it will give you a 3-4 month time frame of when guns with that serial number were made (using the FIRED ON date from the test cases included with the gun).

don't know how it is with glocks produced in the states, but with all glocks produced in austria, you don't need the serial number to get the "date of birth" of your glock.

glock austria stamps 3 letters on the rearward part of the barrel, f.e. GOM means (according to the list below) july 2005, G for july, O for 0 and M for 5, so july 05.

the first of the three letters stands for the month of production
E*-*January
L*-*February
N*-*March
B*-*April
S*-*May
Z*-*June
G*-*July
P*-*August
I*-*September
C*-*Oktober
V*-*November
A*-*December

the next two of the three letters stand for the year of production
O*-*0
W*-*1
K*-*2
R*-*3
F*-*4
M*-*5
H*-*6
Y*-*7
T*-*8
D*-*9

don't know if state-sides produced glocks have the same stamping?!

I have two (2) 2-pin Gen 3 G19s.

I was led to believe that the three-letter codes on the side of the barrel breech (e.g., VTD) indicated when the barrel was proof-fired which, as many presume, is close to the date of manufacture (close enough for me). I'm looking for the approximate date when gen 3 Glock 19's switched from 2 pins to 3 pins. 'Mid 2002' sounds a little early to me, but that may be true....I don't know, that's why I'm asking!

i see, so the three letters are a kind of austrian proofmarks only.
What we understand to be the proofmarks are visible on both the barrel and the slide, but we only receive proofmarked guns when they have a shortage of US guns and presumably a surplus of proofed guns. Since the date code only appears on the proofed guns, I presume it is the date of the proof firing.

it's the marking on top of the bbl, not on the side or the slide, in your pic it's the AOH in front of the 9x19 on top of the barrel.

it have to be three letters here in europe, no letters (proof firing marks) on the slide, just the barrel, like the AOH on the barrel, nothing to do with the KVE or XX on barrel or slide, AOH would mean the gun was produced dec. 2006, A for december, O = 0 and H = 6, so dec. 06
