I have G20 fever and have decided to build a G20L.

The end game is to have a Lone Wolf 6.61 threaded barrel with their Long Slide and a compensator.

The compensator part of this is a bit more complicated then I expected.

Only Lone Wolf makes a barrel that is long enough for a comp (6.61"), however, it has a 9/16-24 thread which is primarily what suppressor companies use.

Lone Wolf makes a comp but it looks a little too "crazy". Plus it has about a 3/16" gap between the comp and the slide and I think the shape of the comp would make it catch on just about anything you try to pull it out of.

The companies that make the nice square shaped comps do not make them for 10mm. They do make 40S&W which should work but they are made from aluminum and they have a 9/16-32 thread.

So I am looking to have a custom comp made from my 10mm build.

I have an online acquaintance that should be able to make this for about $50 but I want to get some input on the best way to have it made.

Here are some specifics I would want incorporated into my comp:
  • Made from steel for weight and strength
  • 5 top ports milled 90 degrees to the bore axis
  • 3 Side ports milled 30 degrees to the bore axis
  • Threaded 9/16 x 24 with a counter bore so the gap between the comp and the slide is minimal
  • Set screw on the bottom to lock it into the Lone Wolf Barrel.
  • Black oxide color
Does any of this sound reasonable?

I am looking for any and all input on this subject so feel free to post your thoughts, you won't hurt my feelings.

i'd make it to use a guide rod to locate it or locktite, but not a set screw. i'd also make the bleeders 90* to the bore axis and i'd use aluminum, doubt you'll enjoy the extra weight and there's no need to worry about an increase in strength. i might consider 7 top ports and be willing to scrap a comp or two looking for the right number of ports.

By "guide rod" do you mean a set up similar to what is used on an AK? if so, I considered that but it adds a lot of parts and complication to the Comp.

I primarily went with a set screw because Lone Wolf has a key cut into the bottom of their barrel for the set screw on their comps. The secondary reason is for ease of removal.

I spoke with SJC and they seemed concerned about putting an aluminum comp on a 10mm platform, so that is why I went with steel.

I am curious about the 90 degree side ports. Is there a precedent for this, since most of the comps I have seen angle then toward the back to pull the gun forward to reduce recoil.
