So I just ordered an Armalite M15 A2 and I've been looking at accessories. I wonder what are some good new military 30 round mags I can get, will my rifle accept a bayonet(can I get a new US made one, EU made?), can I put an optic on without getting a new upper?

BTW here is the gun I ordered.

I like Pmags for 30 rounders

Yes a bayonet will fit if picture is accurate, yes new US made ones should be out there.

Yes you can put on an optic without a new upper, just have to use a mount that attaches to the carry handle, like a Leatherwood or a co-witness cantalever type.

The M7 (Vietnam to 90s) M9 (Desert Storm and later, though the M7 is still in service) and M10 (new USMC) bayonets will all fit.

USGI magazines:

MagPul PMags (they have an NSN)
Brownells (current USGi production)

Colt, Okay Industries, and others.

PEQ15 aiming laser/illuminator.

As to scopes...an ACOG will fit the carry handle, but be high up.

Not much else will that's actually worth using.

If you're thinking about using it for defensive purposes, a flashlight mount that attaches to the side of the front sight base is pretty nice. Cheaper, lighter, and more comfortable than slapping a rail on there just for a light.

Save your money, Surefire has long surpassed them.

A Magpul MOE fore-end with a rail section and an M300C Scout would give you far superior performance at less than half the weight.

A good sling, one of those mag pouches where you can keep the extra mag on the stock, and maybe a small picatinny rail piece (magpul or gg&g) installed on the part of the handguard of your choice for a light to go on if you so desire. Other than that...NOTHING! That rifle is perfect the way it is!

Who makes a good sling thats American made? Also I was looking at a Combatkit vest for carrying mags.

One thought might be to consider changing your order to a model that has a removable carry handle. That will open-up a world of optics possibilities for you, and allow you to change your AR to suit your needs more readily in the future. And you can keep the same, basic look and funtionality of the A2 to boot, if that's what you like.

Considering making a purchase decision that gives you more options and flexibility down the road.

Its too late for that but I think my next AR will be a flat top.
