Currently Aimpoint CompM4S
The Aimpoint M68CCO was it till a few years ago. Many still out there in use
Some units have Eotech's 552/556/512 depends
Trijicon TA31RCOA4 and TA31RCOM4, (M16 & M4 respectively)
Don't take this as gospel. There's a lot of overlap.

Good lawd. All of those are like $700-1000 bucks!

Standard issue is the Aimpoint series (M2, M3 or M4 depending on supply situation, all are in use) as well as Trijicon 4X ACOGs of various types.

Some units do differ, one infantry brigade was using an Israeli sight, the MARS back in 2003-2005ish and a few have Eotechs. But the Trij/Aimpoint pair cover the majority of all optics in service with all branches.

You will see oddities, like an occasional C-More, but less and less nowdays.

Not to mention, you'll see a ton of privately owned optics fielded.

My unit issues the M68 Aimpoint, the M4 Aimpoint, the Marine RCO Acog, and doesn't mind if we bring our own.

Earlier this year I was sporting a RCO ACOG, now I've got a M68.

kalashnikev has it right- the .mil procures large amounts of gear for deploying troops when you go thru supply to get issued stuff it all depends on what is in the pipeline. In Iraq in 04 my unit got eo techs. When we went to Afghanistan in 08 had aimpoints. There was always a mix of a couple trijicon acogs per squad -intended for squad designated marksman but they seemed to be issued more on a RHIP (rank has its priveledge) basis with the senior nco's and officers getting them.(even though I was a senior officer in the unit I did not request one- why take one out of the hands of a guy doing the actual fighting?!)

Which of the two do you prefer?
