I want to add a fore-grip to my AR-15 and am not sure what size to order.
I see M4 length, mid-length, and carbine-length, which would fit my gun?

The rifle is a Colt LE6920. I am looking at the Magpul MOE hand guards, I can add vertical grips to these correct? I want it to mount my surefire and a grip.

Can the magpul AFG mount on the MOE hand guards?
This is the one I'm talking about:

Thanks,

I'd skip the AFG on a carbine length handguard. Try a stubby VFG instead.
Absolutely agree. In my experience, the AFG just is not comfortable with the shorter handguards. A stubby VFG works a lot better, however. Magpul makes a stubby VFG that mounts directly to the MOE handguards without the need for an addon rail, as well.

I prefer rifle length, whether the gun is a rifle or carbine. I like to reach forward for control of the rifle. You will rarely see a carbine length forend on any gun at a 3gun match. That said, one of my favorite carbines has a short handguard, but I want to put a long one on it at some point. I'm looking at the JP carbine handguard with the extension with a front sight slot.

Either that or mill off the front sight tower, slap a rifle length handguard on it with a flip up front sight on the top rail.

I like the full length handguards, but should I ever want to sell my colt, I'd rather not mill anything. I'll get a vertical grip though after you guy's recommendations.

Proper hand guard length has been discussed. As for the AFG, do you have the type of shooting style that is geared towards the AFG? I would say that you probably don't. If you don't skip it. If you do have this shooting style and if you don't have long orangutan arms and if you can run your stock fully extended, then the AFG can work for you on a carbine length handguard.
