Same old story. Tuesday I stopped in the local (closing) gun store for a Coffee and the latest rumors.
While there I saw a very nice Beretta 70S 22LR. (manager's gun)

The next thing I know, I my car is parked in the driveway and the gun and sales slip are on the front seat. I think they must put something in that Coffee.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

I've shot the gun a lot this week. Well made, accurate, fun to shoot and the most reliable 22 pistol I've seen in a long time. It eats Wal Mart Federal and Winchester (Red Box) bulk pack but hates Remington.

Nice gun. I can't believe I missed these guns back in the early 1980's when they were made.

Now I have to find some magazine. I've got two but I like to have extra magazines for the guns I shoot a lot and this gun is going to be shot a lot.:)

.

These gun store coffee stop posts are great, but like Bac's posts, they're hell on the wish list. I can't tell you how many times I've trotted my happy ass over to gunbroker.com to look for one gun or another either you or Bac have picked up. The owner of that shop must absolutely love seeing your mug walk in the door.

Thanks for that link Wriggly. Pretty interesting.

Even though the gun points very well for me, I'm not a fan of those "target" grips. I'll have to see if I can find a set of those smaller grips.

Tuesday evening I had some bad luck. The rear sight blade is held in place and the windage adjusted by two opposing little screws. I finished off the day doing a lot of point shooting from 5-7 yards.
Wednesday morning when I picked up the gun to do some more shooting I saw one screw was backed way out and the sight blade was gone. I searched the books and net for a replacement blade, with of course no luck.
A number of times Wednesday I drug a magnet through the grass, with little hope of finding the sight. The thing could have flown anywhere.
A little before dark I tried again and talk about luck, the magnet snagged the sight just as I was about to give up.
Break out the LockTite.

Very nice. A post-1968 model with adjustable sight and thumbrest to gain import points, and a lever thumb safety instead of the earlier crossbolt. I'd have paid that for one.
Good info.:)
I don't like to take advantage of anyone but it's nice to get a decent deal once in a while.

Reaaly nice gun. I had one in the 70's and foolishly let it go. It was extremely accurate and fun to shoot, easy to take down and keep clean. I remember having to get a magazine for it and gunparts.com had one in stock. I also had heard the bit about the Mossad relying on them as Wriggly opined. Mine had different grips and fixed sights ( driftable ).

Yeah, he knows I'm a sucker for the unusual. As I walk through the door, if he says, "Have I got something to show you", I know I'm in trouble.

And the store being just two miles up the road it's too easy for me to go there when I get bored.

Well, I'm glad you do and post your finds on here. I enjoy the vicarious thrill of someone else's gun purchase.

Neat little pistols. Gunbroker's got ten auctions up right now, but none are .22LR. I've got a Ruger Mark III with a heavy bull barrel. I like it, but I've been wanting something smaller/compact. This looks like it would fit the bill.

Well, OK then.:)

I got this S&W 649 at the gun show yesterday.

I've been kind of looking for one. I have a few Smiths but never had one of these.
The owner said he bought it for his wife but she didn't like the hammer. Never fired it. NIB.

I gave him $500 and walked away.

My friend bought a rifle and S&W 40 S&W/10mm revolver (Model ??). I've never seen one before.
Both FTF sales.

I love it when a paper trail ends.

Very nice. Great little revolvers. Before I read your post, I thought to myself that the pistol looked really clean. NIB...that explains it.
