Bac,

Love the P210 and X-Five. They are 2 guns Id love to own. It looks like the P210 is a "-6" model?

I think there's a certain amount of resentment against anything exeter has done from many of us that can well remember what SIGS reputation was like, prior to exeter being involved in manufacturing. That along with alot of the decision making going on there has soiled their reputation. The "rainbow' SIGS led me to think that the upper echelon mgmt at Taurus and SIG were one and the same.

I don't like all the goofy color schemes either.

I see just the opposite.

Why do you think the best Sigs are still built in Germany? :whistling:
I think it's just internet hype. =)

Before I bought my US built P228 in 2004 I looked over an older west german P228 & P226 and they were poor in comparison.

Before I bought my US built P220ST in 2004 I looked over two older west german P220s and they were also poor in comparison.

Both for reasons I previously mentioned.

I think sig refined their manufacturing process and the new builds were superior -- at least up until the point they discontinued the classic P series.

The newer Sigs might have nicer fit and finish. I think many of us here don't care about that. We like the older Sigs because we want a rugged and reliable combat pistol.

The fact that a lot of the newer Sigs don't work right is just made even worse by the new bizarre styling trends. Instead of paying people to come up with tens of pointless color combinations maybe they should work on reliability and durability.:whistling:

I have to know, what is wrong with all black???:dunno:

This is a new Sig, by contrast:

Yeah, that's what gun owners need. White grips, a silvery slide, and a pointless beavertail that makes the gun a half inch longer.

Yeah, most of the new Sigs are hideous to look at. I don't like the rails either.

I don't care about the finish so much. I only want older GERMAN Sigs, not the stuff this new clown is building in Exeter.

I'm looking at a very nice German P225 right now, actually.

Not that I really have a dog in this fight, not ONE person can amount to any evidence as the OP request other than internet lore it seems.
MD, you of all people could certainly appreciate the older Sigs and what they brought to the table.

In addition, I know you are not much for gimmicks, gadgets, goofy marketing, and hellacious color schemes, which is what is mostly being offered from Exeter. In fact, I think you dislike that stuff more than I.

Which is exactly why I posted the link to the Sigforum thread about one of the batch of "oh so perfect" W. German guns that came out in the 1980s and cracked rails. I guess that could not have really happened with German superior guns. I am damn sure keeping my Exeter top end 229s and 239s.
German Sigs were all perfect. http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/430601935/m/2790002922 Deutsch guns uber alles.

Oh I hate the ubertacticalequinoxblackwater/EREEWTT-2 models they put out now. All the window dressing IS confusing for sure. I've owned several Sigs in the past and the German ones were great guns for me but the OP asked for specific differences and nobody is providing that evidence. I really don't know the difference and am curious myself. I got to shoot one of the newer P228Rs this summer.... are they American made?

I think they may be German, but I'm not 100% sure on that model.

I just handled a new P226 E2 last week and was impressed with it, but I still prefer the classic look and feel of the old models. I can't provide evidence, as I don't own any American built Sigs. I just prefer everything about the old ones over every new model I've handled.

The one new model I absolutely can not stand is the little P238.

P series today is just as good as the P series of German lore. There is no evidence being presented....because there is no evidence(just internet hooey)... as far as the different offerings of SIG models...well...last time I checked they just do that for a few in their lineup(and still offer classic black in every line)...guess we should be just as disgusted at any non black 1911 out there too(like those silver and black ones with non matching wood grips..can you say tacky!)... And if there was no market for a equinox, or stainless or whatever style SIG...they would not be producing them... Personally I would not buy an equinox or rainbow colored gun, however, I am not going bash SIG for offering them to fill the needs of those that might want one.

I will chime in on a 2010 P226 (9mm) Combat model.

Why SIG uses plastic grips on such a nice weapon is beyond my comprehension but, they did/do ... I complained about the 2mm gap on the frame-grip interface with the plastic grips and finally received a set of aluminum grips (took three attempts to get the right grips). Those AL grips (SIG design) looked crappy on the weapon so I went with a set of Hogue grips (see picture).

Mine also had issues shooting low that were corrected by the NH custom crew but, it took two times for them to get it right. Seems they did not know how to polish a feed ramp either (I paid for an SRT/AEP/polish job) so, the barrel had to be sent back alone the second time. When they did finally get the polish job and the 11 Deg barrel recrown performed it made all the difference. I can now shoot 3" groups at 15 yards easily everytime.

I probably would not buy another SIG handgun (unless I got a really^2 great deal on a new one) just because of that experience but, my P226 is a great shooter now and I will be keeping it.
