I wouldn't. I use their +10% springs in some G20 mags. It probably only made a difference in my head, but the gun seemed to run more consistently over a wide variety of ammo. Fairly certain that was all in my head though. On the other hand, in thousands of rounds those mags have never had an issue I'd blame on the spring.

 

I have never found a difference in performance between Wolff and OEM springs in general. Occasionally, depending on the spring or the OEM in question, it can be easier to get them ordered through Wolff's online site.

I have a buddy that swears he will never buy Wolff again because of bad product performance, but this has not been my experience.

+1 As Willy says, maybe the spring needed is easier to find at Wolff than an OEM. But I've never had problems when using Wolff. I refurbished a BUNCH of 40 yr old Polish 9mm Makarov pistols using ALL Wolff springs and they all performed well. IMO, great product(s).

 

Replaced all para p14 double stack mag springs with wolff extra springs and they work great.

 

I replaced basically everything in my G30 including all oem springs from ghost inc and recieved them quickly.

Edit: basically everything means everything except the block, firing pin and trigger casing.

 

I've had the infamous mag spring foldover problem with a couple of my Shield 9 mag springs, so I put Wolff springs in all of the mags. No problems at all with them.

 

I have had a number of Springfield 1911 and other guns (a TRP being the most expensive, so nothing in the rarefied air of the FBI/DEA guns) and never had that issue. Was it one of the Brazilian guns?

It is an N model.
I forgot to mention it was forged, machined, and assembled by Imbel. Actually it has a great flush fit/finish on rear of frame/slide/beavertail. The frame to slide was also tight but free. Internal finish was terrible and the barrel was sloppy. You could push down on hood when locked up. It hit 6 inches low at 25 yards. Springfield fit a barrel, extractor, and taller rear sight under warranty. I fit an EGW firing pin stop, thumb safety, and normal guide rod as well as an action job. I also replaced all the springs with Wolff. It now runs great.
My other guns are NM.

 

Interesting. I have had mixed luck with Springfield as well, but their CS always made the process of getting it where I wanted it to be so painless, I rarely felt bitter about it.

I had one of their first EMP's, what a nightmare (for both of us). That gun got more airline miles that year than I did. When they finally got it sorted, I had completely lost faith in it. I sold it to a friend who was thrilled for such a good deal (full disclosure in graphic detail), he still carries it daily, loves the gun.

 

Years ago you needed Wolf extra power mag springs in Glock 40s if you ran a light , now the OEM is fine but wolf makes an excellent product I still have mag with their springs also some. 6.8 mags I cobbled together with their springs we my most reliable

 

When I replace an OEM spring I usually go with Wolff. Other that Glock recoil springs. I prefer the stock weight captured assembly with the plastic guide rod so there's no alternative to Glock factory part..

 

Other than my 10mm gen3 Glock 20 I stick with factory Glock springs throughout. My 20 gets stronger Wolff recoil and mag springs.

 

I have tried the 10%+ magazines and frankly am skeptical they are actually any stiffer as loading magazines always seemed about the same. I personally haven't seen any benefit over OEM, but to each their own. To me, it always seemed a bit of a gimmick.

I have read of people that found the 10%+ magazines cured feed issues on their 10mm guns when shooting hot loads. I have a lot of 10mm shooting experience with my Glock 10mm guns, from mild to wild and have found a 22lb ISMI flat spring on a stainless GR worked best for my G20 (it will cycle my light 40 S&W loads as well as my 180gr jacketed at 1300+ fps). On my G29, the OEM RSA always seemed to work perfectly.

The stock 17 lb rsa had a tighter lockup than the aftermarket captured flat wire rsa's. I went with uncaptured Wolff round wire just to get a tight lockup. I would prefer flat wire if they were made correctly. I don't like having a barrel unlock early with 37.5K pressure inside. Maybe my KKM barrel is out of spec?

I would be shocked if your KKM barrel is somehow part of what you are seeing with the 22lb flat spring. I have tried KKM, LW and SL in my G20 and never had an issue with any of them. I don't use any of them any more as I now quit when I start seeing smiles with my OEM barrel (about 1325fps with a 180gr jacketed). I can't go any higher and I can't reliably shoot 220gr lead from my OEM barrel, but those are compromises I am willing to make for simplicity.

I use the same 22lb ISMI spring on the stainless GR for both my G20 and my G21 when running hot 45 Super loads, zero issues.

That is a real head scratcher. I will say, I have seen more variation in experiences with 10mm Glocks than just about any model. Mine are like my most bullet proof guns.

Wolff makes some manufacturers oem springs.

 

I'd bet they make most USA manufacturers
gunsprings; at least high end manufacturers. Custom gun makers like Linebaugh use them exclusively.

I don't know if it was the cause or the result, but I purchased some Wolff mag springs (forget what caliber...) but the old OEM springs were MUCH shorter and, IIRC, a coil shorter?

 

It has been a long time since I installed the Wolff +10% magazine springs in a gun, I can't recall the length difference, but that is probably owing to a less than scientific approach to adoption of the things. I have always been a sort of "bust it open, ignore the instructions, slap them in and go shoot!" kind of guy.

I've used wolf I've also had wolf magazine springs rust that were being used right beside oem springs that didn't rust. I don't use wolf in my duty guns...
My glocks get oem my ar15's get sprinco.
If it's an old milsurp or out of production gun then yes I would use wolf if it's gamer gun and I can't find what I need from ismi or sprinco then yes I would use wolf .

Many GM "performance" parts in the Corvette are made in Mexico. Often counterfeit, from China, or 2nd grade items, can be sold at the Chevy parts counter, or Autozone, or NAPA, still marked GM but huge diff in price.

Nobody makes there own stuff, including Glock. Ask AR-15 or 1911 owners where their internal parts come from--nah, don't. I trust Wolf compared to some other parts makers, especially since you can buy direct from them

 

For me, I will ONLY use OEM parts/springs.

Wolff is fine in terms of overall quality. I use different springs for different purposes. For mag springs I like OE best. For 140mm mags and over-power production mags, I use 30r OE and cut them to length.

 

I use WOLFF recoil springs for my M1911's & BHP's they seem better than some OEM recoil springs, I bought a brand new Springfield Armory M1911A1 back in the 1980's and the recoil spring was junk, they used some sub standard parts to build it to save on costs.

but I never liked the firing pin springs they supply with WOLFF recoil spring kits, they are extra strength fp springs that look / feel nothing like the original or OEM springs, they feel so stiff, probably to make them safer for drop safety tests? but they also feel like they would cause a weaker primer strike, unless you also changed the hammer spring to extra power.

 

Wolf makes a good product, I've bought and used many springs from them and never an issue.

A looooong time ago member MarkCo did a test on oem, wolf and ISMI recoil springs. He got more rounds out of wolf vs oem before having to change the RSA. Even moreso from the ISMI. He was also an engineer IIRC.

 

So long as you go with a factory weight spring, wolf should be fine. Just my opinion

let me ask you guys this. Would you think using the mag springs that are "technically" for glocks. would work in other gun manufactors mags. I mean a 15 round mag is a 15 round mag, right?

 

Just installed Wolf +10% springs today, the coils of the wolf are thicker and stiffer compared to my 10 year old factory springs. Well needed upgrade as the old factory ones were worn out. Highly recommend. Bought 2 sets of 3 {6} total for 43 bucks after shipping. Small investment.

Btw how do y’all removed the base plate. I use i skinny long screwdriver push the button to the side and slide it off. Anyone have a better method, thnx.
