I've been running 13 lbs ISMI springs on my stock polymer rod, but I'm really thinking about puting the wolf steel guide rod with the wolf 14 lbs spring combo in my 34.

Shooting the steel rod in USPSA keeps me in production, but bumps me to ESP in IDPA. I tried a 14lbs wolf spring on the stock rod and didn't like the way it fit. So here's the questions:

1. How is the fit with the wolf steel rod and spring?

2. Is there a larger polymer rod that fits the spring better for use in IDPA SSP?

You feel comfortable with that much 14lbs.? If I may ask.

I just had a discussion with another shooting buddy at a match about this last week.
He was telling me about how the Wolf springs on the metal guide were chewing up the inside forward mating sode of his G35 so he went back to stock rods, even with a washer under the button screw.
I run ISMI's in mine 11-13 pounds depending on what I get, change out every 3000-4000 rounds.
Any particular reason you wishing to change to the Wolf?

I am a glock rookie. That said, I own a M36. It does not play nice with Speer 230 GDs.

Glocks are touted as being reliable. If yours is, why would you need to mess with it?

What is to be gained?

Thanks,

The gun is finely tuned and dialed in for competition. I am running reduced power hand loads and the gun cycles more reliably with reduced springs. My gun will not run well with stock springs and my load. My load was developed based on my comp needs in order to obtain the maximum accuracy.

If I was shooting speer GD, which I do in my carry and hd gun, I wouldn't mess with anything.

Hope that answers your question. Oh and the other reason is because I'm cheap and I want to shoot the cheapest bullets possible. Less powder equals less expense equals more bullets to put down range.

I am about as green as new money and probabally just as worthless.

There are lots of comments here and there about the M 36. Since I have one, and have problems with Speer 230 Std Pressure GDs, I thought I'd ask you why you felt the need to change some of the recoil stuff out.

Maybe I overlooked comments about powder puff competition reloads. My bad.

Just scratching around looking for information a bit below the apparent surface

I gotta admit to a pre-conceived notion that mechanical malfunctions blamed on 'break in', 'limp wristing', or shooter error is way out of line in a carry tool.

Dave Sevigny uses a Wolf Steel Guide Rod with a Wolf 14lb recoil spring in his G34.

Yes, for USPSA "Uncaptured" wolf spring makes spring changes faster. IDPA, I read somewhere he uses ISMI springs on a stock rod.

I went with the Jager rod and ISMI spring. Really nice set up.
This is the route I would go if needed to change springs often, but my current set-up works just fine, 13# ISMI on a stock rod.

I wanted to try out the Trybe 9mm comp on my G19. It had issues going into battery, so I tried the Wolf 14 lb. spring with their steel guide rod. Still had issues, and seemed to make the guide rod not want to stay seated properly with the barrel. I went to the ISMI 11 & 13lb springs to try, with the stock guide rod, and gun runs extremely well. I believe the flat spring is much better from this experience. The ISMI springs will not fit the Wolff guide rod.
