Will new Glock pistols be sold in Calif, in 2025?

The current CA approved handgun roster shows the Glock Gen 3 listing expires Jan 1 2025. No Glock pistols made in the USA are on the current roster. The CA market is pretty big, lots of money to be made on handgun sales. A lot of the models you guys talk about have never been seen by most handgun owners in CA. So will Glock jump through the CA DOJ hoops? I see the biggest challenge being the mag no fire disconnect. I'm telling people "if you're thinking of buying a Glock do it now" I'd love to have some Gen 5 Glocks , I'm surprised that there hasn't been more discussion about this

In a weird (and selfish) way, I'm glad the CA list only has gen 3 Glocks on it. Without that list, Glock likely would have also discontinued gen 3 models like they did their gen 4 pistols. And as we all know, discontinued models means eventually spare parts will no longer be available.

I was just talking to my buddy at his gun shop. He says that all handguns have renew every2 years for the roster. He said that if they were already on the roster then they are “grandfathered” in and aren’t required to have the magazine disconnect or external safety in order to renew.

I asked why Glock just doesn’t tell CA to pound sand and not renew. He said his Glock rep told them that about 25% of Glocks US sales come from CA, so they just keep renewing.

]The Roster initially had the expiration/renewal dates listed a calendar year from the date of when a gun was placed on the roster. The gun companies had to stay on top of all of the different models regarding when they had to be renewed, since they were scattered throughout the year. Finally, someone at DOJ realized it would be much simpler for everyone to simply have the renewals start at the beginning of each calendar year for every handgun on the Roster.

To make it even simpler, I'm hoping the court review of the Roster ends up throwing it out. ;)

There's a possible kink, though. Since the state apparently decided not to enforce the microstamping, it's supposedly not being reviewed in the current federal case. However, the state supposedly decided to write a new microstamping law, outside of the way it's written and was used for the Roster, that wouldn't take effect until something like 2028, for all handguns, so that battle might have to be fought all over again in just another 2-4 years.

From gun data, California accounts for about 6% of all US gun sales. If they become such a PITA that the revenue from those sales isn't worth the challenge, Glock will make the right business decision for themselves. Even if it means walking away. I don't expect to see a new magazine disconnect from Glock, and the new rules appear to push the earliest entries off of the gun registry list. It isn't the old program, new teeth were underway to change the game (in and anti-gun fashion!).

I don't pretend to know what will happen, but the old way is under active attack and things don't appear to be staying the same. California gun owner rights are under active attack and if the new plans come to light, the registry will change, forcing Glock to think about how they fit into the new plan!
