Why the X

Why do people what the x frames. For example why get the 19x when they make the 17?

Especially for a optics equipped pistol, sight radius is less important. Some folks also perceive the slide to cycle quicker on a shorter gun. Those two aspects with the slightly reduced weight makes an X gun attractive for carry purposes, hence 19X / P365X / Glock 45 etc.

If you are shooting irons, and want a longer sight radius, or a longer barrel to drive more fps out of a given load, a longer barrel/slide combo e.g. Glock 34 or longslide 17 might be preferable.

Choices are a good thing.

It's the way they balance in you hands and point more naturally. I can shoot G45 or a G19x better than a G19 and I can shoot a G19 better than I can shoot the G17 but I hat th4color Of th G19x so my default choice is the G45

I've always preferred the G19 (or better yet, the G23) to the G17 (or G22) But I really like the G45 and wish they made it in 40 caliber but with the same size and weight slide as the G45 but without forward slide serrations.

I can feel my "tail" and kinda spot it when I carry IWB at 5:30. So yeah, the extra half inch matters.

Small is good for ccw, but I want most of my hand on the grip. Not just two fingers.

Short barrels draw a fraction of a second quicker, and easier as well.

Generally the sights may be easier to find as well. If you draw the pistol 15 degrees crooked, a long slides sight will be a further distance off than a short slide.

I like my G-43X over the 43 because of more rounds, and a better grip. Longer and thicker.
I like the G-19/23 over 17/22 shorter barrel and grip. It just feels better.
I still have my G-22, but let my Son have the G-17.
I decided to try a G-45 and like it too. If they would come out with a 40cal in the same frame I would buy it too.
I retired my Gen2 G-19 because it is an older one with Black internals. I Bought G-45, Life is Good.
I don't have a problem concealing the G-45, I have found a light vest that is long enough to cover whatever I want to carry. I have a heavy winter vest with a hood.
