I acquired a already polished barrel Glock and was amazed at how nice it looked. I then shot the piss out of another one of my Glocks until severe barrel wear from the slide looked bad, I then polished it to wear the miles put on it was not obvious. If it is a Glock I plan to shoot a lot I will polish the barrel to hide wear.

I've never been a fan of this but then think "why are Lone Wolff, Storm Lake, and KKM barrels not coated the same as a factory barrl?" I handed a friends G19 with a polished barrel tonight and I was amazed at how smooth the action was. I think it looks clean, would I do it? Probably not, I'd buy a KKM. IMO

The above mentioned barrels above are all stainless steel. SJ 40

My complaints on my polished barrels are minor. Finger prints show more and occasionally the front night sight will reflect. Otherwise they looks sharp and do seem to operate smoothly. It also helps to differentiate between different models for me. Apparently when looking down the barrel end they look huge with the polished ring.

Why do some people do this and for what reason is it done? Is it a better performance issue or is a plastic surgery thing?
One trainer told me that he polished the muzzle end of the barrel of every pistol he carried for self-defense. His idea was that the now-shiny barrel could be more visible to an assailant and might encourage an assailant to quit the fight sooner, rather than later, and perhaps even avoid the necessity of his employing deadly force.

They want to be gunsmiths but don't have the skills, so they settle for making their slide to barrel fit looser ( a bad idea).

I do this too, to make my g26g4 barrel look bigger, maybe thwart use.
Also polished colt defender muzzle for same purpose.

Why put chrome rims on your car?

Some people like the way it looks. Just like filling in the engraving with crayon.

posted from my stupid smart phone, please excuse any spelling mistakes.
