A few days ago I traded a Spikes Tactical lower for a lnib G36. I then started scouring the net for extended magazines for range use and backups. The only thing I could come up with were a few less than optimal options; Pearce plus one magazine extensions, sheryer (don't think that's spelled correctly) +2 mag extensions, and hyve technologies +1 mag extensions. All of which are out of stock or discontinued besides the Hyves.

Also, I thought I might trade out the slide stop/release for one of the Vickers Tactical units like I did on the 21 I owned. No such luck. They make them for the 6 shot 42, and 43, but not the 36? What's the deal? I know there are other options and I'll probably go with an oem Glock extended release, but why no support for the 36? Also, ETS makes larger capacity mags for every Glock model, it's strange that they haven't made mags for a gun that been around much longer than the other 2 slim lines.

About the G36 itself, I'm really loving this gun and it will probably become my new carry gun after getting a little more trigger time. How many of you carry the 36?

Unfortunately the G36 seems like the red headed stepchild of Glocks.

I just got an OD framed 36 in a trade and I've had the same experiences as you - wait until you look for magazine pouches. Other than the overly large fobus dual mag paddle job, there are no major manufacturers making them for the G36. And I'm a lefty to boot, so I had to get one from one of the custom kydex places.

Be careful about the + extensions for the 36. Most of the things I've read about them (here and other forums) bring to question their reliability and the general consesus seems to be that they should only be used at the range.

Bad news about the slide stop - I live local to Glock and when I took my 36 to them for inspection and upgrades, I asked for an extended slide stop. The armorer replied that Glock doesn't make them for that model. However, I was able to get factory night sights for something like $67 installed.

On another positive note, I got an idpa holster for $7 on clearance. Guess there's not too much demand for lefty G36 OWB holsters. :D

Also, an IWB holster wasn't too hard to find either, though I haven't tested the gun enough to carry yet.

One other thing - I HATE the Glock serratred "target" triggers, which the G36 has, and of course there's no smooth trigger available from Glock either. Fortunately, Overwatch Precision sells a version of their Falx trigger for the 36, and it's a great trigger .

Sorry, I realize I'm kind of all over the place in my response, but I hope at least some of it helps.

Edit: Here's a pic of mine:

I Also hate the serrated triggers and looked for a flat face trigger with no luck besides the expensive Overwatch trigger. I may have to try it out though.
I did find an extended slide release from lone wolf and a couple others, so l guess I'll try those out. The extensions were to be mainly for range use, so I don't have to reload as frequently.

I too love the G36 and carry it daily. I also like TruGlo TFX Pro night sights, but couldn't find them for the G-36. My LGS did some checking and found that the G-21 version of them fit the G-36 as well. I have them on now and am very happy with them.

I also prefer the Glock extended mag base over the Pearce Grip +2, but that's just a function of how it feels in my hand. I had the +2's on for a little while and had no performance problems. PM me and i can send you 4 of them.

Thanks I really appreciate it!

The G36, even though not a star, has enough interest for Glock to keep producing them. Everything for it is different. One Glock armourer told me he has to carry two sets of parts, one set just for the G36. The only change I did to mine was get the Glock night sights.

I sold my 36 when I bought my 30S .. I then bought a XDS45..
But last month I traded for a LNIB 36 .. I have been busy and sick ... I hadn't even drug it out if the safe ... much less shot it ...
The 36 just is great size for a 45

Nice pistol Mick. Got one a couple years after they came out. Great pistol IMO, and a good CCW.

I added some Pearce (+0) grip extensions to my mags, and a Hogue Handall grip. I use a Bianchi IWB holster, which works great.
Have fun with yours Mick! Let us know how she shoots.

Thanks a lot, will do. I like your setup, would like to try the Hogue handall myself. Should have some Pearce extensions on the way thanks to tux.

I had one about 10 years back, it was okay. But that said, it's a squished G30 and about the same size as the considerably higher capacity G23 and G19.

When I lived in VA and the weather was conducive to the G36 It was my daily carry. I can say I have a little over 1000 rounds through mine and no hiccups. Now living in FL I wear tank tops since its hot and humid which leaves me to wear tank tops. Cant conceal the G36 so now I carry my P938 since it can easily disappear. 6+1 .45ACP and an extra mag gives me a warm fuzzy.
