I like my relatively new G43X but the ten round OEM mag is a limiting factor. Why doesn't Glock make a higher capacity mag? It looks like they have room...

Could it be because Sig Sauer patented the "stack and a half" technique they used for the 365?
There were other mags similar to Sigs before Sig.

Glock probably didn't want to cannibalize Glock 19 sales any more than necessary. Also a thriving eco system of aftermarket accessories help overall sales. Look at all the money made by third parties off of Glock accessories, which also helps sell more Glocks.

The shield arms mags work great and do exactly what you want. Join the club. 15 rounds on a carry gun the size of the g43x is great. Test them for yourself but I have run them hard with no issues. Lots of pistols outsource mags, people run magpul mags for all types of guns, and people run aftermarket triggers, slide locks, etc. in their glocks all the time. Give them a try and have at it.
A LOT of OEM mags are just private labelled Mecgars.

I have three SA Gen 1 mags and they have been perfect for me.

ETS is hit or miss, mostly miss from what I have saw. The feed lips often spread just under spring pressure, the housing is quite flimsy and also swells under spring pressure (the G21 mags are bad it), plus failures and malfunctions. The ones I bought on several I also had to remove the springs and twist them over to the sides to keep the spring from wadding up into a ball as the magazine was loaded. Also had AR mags that fell out just from being shot.

I considered getting ETS mags for my 48s and 43X but refrained. Wasted enough money on their other mags.
Wow, the ones I have for my 42 have been perfect.

Just a comment regarding dialogue online.... my question was, to be honest, genuinely a question of curiosity, not a rebuke of Glock. I own a number of Glocks, the majority of my guns in fact and one of them is a G43X that I like very much. I believe Glock to be as reliable as a Casio watch or an Apple iPhone. That is, to say, very reliable. A fine attribute for a firearm used for self-defense.

You guys that pointed out the polymer shell concept won the day, IMHO. I'm sure the limit on ten rounds doesn't hurt so they can sell in non-2A friendly states. Thanks to all for chiming in.
There’s also a benefit in having a thriving third party accessory ecosystem.
