Howdy

I've been into Glocks for years and amazed at the loyal following
Glock platform continues to get worldwide. So my curiosity encourages
me to ask: What are the features of Glock guns that you stay loyalty
to over time when there are so many other choices?

I have shot many many pistols in the U.S. and out of the country. I have had a Glock since they came into the U.S. and still have that one today. It has a lot of rounds down the pipe and still no issues with it, I am very rough on my weapons and don't baby them for any reason.

It will either take the abuse or I will move on and pick another weapon. The other side of the coin is you can teach a monkey to take it apart and you can throw a rock and hit a dozen people who sell Glock parts.

Pretty damn simple in my book.

They were designed for the world Military markets. Thus they had to work in every environment, reliably. And, By gosh, they did!

I think the USA came in as an after thought.

Who would have ever guessed it would be such a hit here, eh?

Reliable, accurate, easy take-down. Excellent firearm for an excellent price. Can't beat it.

Simplicity, reliability and smooth design translates to a more flawless draw.
AND: all parts are widely available and reasonably priced, I can replace any one of those parts myself and the gun still works afterward, extremely corrosion (rust) resistant, good customer support, accurate enough, good trigger for a SD gun. The mags and all replacement parts are much lower priced than just about any other gun make. Go price a H&K 45 mag.

The coupon for a lifetime supply of PBR didn't hurt.

Relative to its magazine capacity and cartridge it is the lightest and simplest self defence pistol in existence. It also comes in the widest range of cartridges and is one of the few where 10mm can be chosen. It is smooth in profile and so easier to carry than most others. Its light weight makes it more comfortable to carry for many hours at a stretch. It is amongst the most reliable of pistols and might well be the most reliable of all in both normal use and under extremely dirty conditions. Given the fumble free advantage of not having a thumb safety, its trigger is adequate for over 90% of self defence situations but with relatively little effort and very little cost its trigger action can be greatly improved. It has a huge range of accessories available to it at reasonable cost. It has a plastic frame and this means that it is easy and cheap to modify parts that do not suit your hand. It has a very low, perhaps the lowest, bore axis to C of P on the back strap and so muzzle flip and felt recoil are minimised. The greater part of its weight is in its slide and this too reduces felt recoil. For all these advantages it is low in price. In absolute terms and relative to its durability and finish, its price is also low enough for accidental dings and scratches not to be a concern. It is a supremely practical pistol for practical purposes.

The order in which you prioritise these benefits is one of personal choice and expected use.

My Glock is the perfect counterpoint to the other love of my life, my wife.

My Glock is simple and easy to understand, not so my wife.
My Glock never complains and it does what I want it to, not so my wife.
My Glock is easy and cheap to maintain, not so my wife.
My Glock is butt ugly, not so my wife.

Features? I think the lack of features is probally one of the best parts. The gun shoots the bullet when the trigger is pulled, only when the trigger is pulled, and about every part of the Glock is for making this happen and getting it ready for the next round.

Parts are inexpensive, plentifull, and easy to find. A glock is a glock, and made by glock, so except a few minor detais, you know when you order parts for your Gxx you don't have to worry about what year it was made, or what manufacturer, or what edition your gun happens to be.

The Glock has become the benchmark due to it's reliability and consistancy. We often see copycats that "improve" the design, and we ask "why doesn't glock do this and that like the other manufacturer" but Glock stays the course and in a short time we find out why.
