In contrast the New York State police ( one of the first agenci s to adopt the Glock 17) kept them in service for about 20 years until replaced with 45 gaps. Sadly the communist state has a law guns owned by the state can not be released for sale ( even to officers) so they went to the corrections department to replace revolvers which likely were destroyed or dumped in the ocean

When the NYSP sent all their G17's to state corrections, that caused them to get rid of the same thousands of S&W model 10 pea shooters that were there when I came in almost 30 years ago. Gov Cuomo doesn't like guns in anyone's hands so he won't sell old ones to make extra money.
