I am a fan of the .45 round. the new G5 30 does have my attention. I previously had a 29 and was not a huge fan. but I suspect I'd like the 30. I would also not mind a 21.5, but I recently pulled the trigger on a 21RTF2 PD trade in.

I have only shot a few rds from it thus far, but I have to say, initial impression is that my gen 4 GAP is a better, softer, shooter. I really wish that platform caught on more. handling a G37 and G21 back to back, for me, I wildly prefer that 37. the small grip with the thick slide just makes for a goldilocks combo for me. I would slap my mother for a gen 5 38.
I have a gen 4 glock 30 with a 13 round glfull size mag with sleeve. I also have the overwatch precision flat trigger

My only concern, once I got the gen 5 glock 20 it basically made the 45acp obsolete

I looked at a Gen 5 30 and a 29 yesterday but did not handle them as I just did not have that much interest. I already have other guns I prefer as carry guns and me being a 1911 fan, I will stay with that platform when it comes to anything in 45 ACP.

I was thinking of getting one but wanted to wait and see if the mos version came out. I contacted Glock and they said no plans yet. But, I recently got a hkvp9 and it is very impressive and accurate. I might look into another hk in 45 now instead.

Right now I've got my G29.4 and a 30 slide for it. I've decided to step away from the Blockie Glockie and switch to G23.4 & G22.4. There are just some times when I don't want to carry that extra thick slide. Picked up a G22.5 not realizing how thick the slide is compared to previous generations. I put it on consignment and I should get my check in a few days.

But if i find a friend with a G29.5 or G30.5 I'm definitely going to put some rounds through it to see if I like it anymore than what I've got now.

I like my 30s, I attached a holster under my steering wheel. I call it my “Carjacker Peace Pipe”. It’s full of 230 Gold Dots. I like it but I don’t need the g5.

I started buying M&Ps and don’t know when I’ll be buying another Glock.

HK doesn’t make any optic ready .45’s either, just FYI. But I am a huge fan of the USP and HK45. I recently got an HK45C and have put over 1400 rounds through it in 10 days with not a single malfunction. I have a holster on the way for it. The G30 Gen 5 and HK45C will have to battle it out.

Have you considered having it cut for an optic? IINM Primary Machine & SAS Tactical offer an optics cut for it.

The G30 and G30S are my carry guns of first choice. I have Gens 2.5, 3 and 4. Like them all. I will give the Gen 5 a serious look. Great soft shooting accurate guns. I carry a 21 sometimes in colder months but al go back to the 30. Get the 10rd mags for in holster for carry then use 13 rd mags for the 21 as spares. Ammo and accuracy…

I do consider it. Maybe I will one day, but I've yet to make the transition to optics. I can tell that to truly master it and be effective with it, I would need to dedicate myself totally to optic-equipped pistols, and I am not ready to do that yet. And while modern pistol optics are extremely reliable, I do still have concerns about the elements affecting the window. Within 25 feet I am able to shoot my self defense handguns quickly and accurately using iron sights, so I'm content with it for now. When I am older and my eyesight starts to diminish, that may change. I do plan to get a Holosun SCS for one of my MOS Glocks at some point in the near future to at least have an optic-equipped pistol and start getting familiar with it.

With HKs its a little trickier than Glock cuts. I don't want to even risk diminishing reliability, though I'm sure the right person could do it correctly.

At the moment my thoughts on pistol optics somewhat align with Ken Hackathorn's as he explains here starting at 8:11 :

I've handled a G30.4 and didn't mind the finger grooves, waiting for a chance to run a few mags through one. To buy a G30.5? I dunno, a G49 would fit in well with my G45, mix and match slides would be interesting. So, the G30.5 is a want not a need and will have to wait until I get some trigger time on one.

Well, I only got to shoot 102 rounds out of the Glock 30 Gen 5 today. I did have a jam on the 100th round. I was loading the 10rd mags that came with it to 9 rounds and it jammed on the second to last round in the magazine, but it looks a bit different from what happened to my Glock 21 Gen 5's. It's more of a normal failure to feed. This was with Speer Lawman 230gr TMJ ammunition. I re-loaded that round back into the magazine and fired the last 2 rounds again without issue. That was all the ammo I had allotted for the G30 Gen 5 today. I did clean out the copper grease beforehand and also did normal lubrication with CLP in accordance with the Glock manual's guidelines.

I also shot 300 more rounds through a new-ish G21 Gen 4 afterwards, without a single issue. Also shot 116rds through my HK45C (38 of which were Federal HST) to test some new 10rd elephant foot mags and likewise, no stoppages.

Here's a couple of pics I took, sorry they're not the greatest: [Note, the PMC in the background is .38 Special. The ammo in the G30 was all entirely Speer Lawman 230gr TMJ]
