Greetings Glock friends…which 147 gr personal defense type loads do you recommend in the Glock 43 or 43X? Is the 147 gr an appropriate bullet weight to use in the shorter barreled Glocks as it relates to performance/expansion?

Appreciate your opinions on any of the following in shorter barrel 9mm’s:

Remington 147 gr Bonded JHP
Winchester 147 gr in Ranger T and Ranger Bonded
Winchester M1153 147 gr JHP (US Military spec)
Speer Gold Dot 147 gr
Federal 147 gr HST
Hornady 147 gr XTP
Winchester 147 gr Silvertip

Any of those will do fine. It's not as hard as the mall ninjas make it seem on the internet.

I have Federal "Micro" 150 grain HST in my G 43. I only had one box, but 14 of them cycled just fine. Have never had any kind of ammunition stop the G 43.

Bullet weight is different and propellant charge may be also, in order to work better out of short barrels.

Gold dot 124 +p was my duty round. It’s a great round but I went to standard pressure rounds when I retired. Less wear and tear on the guns. And finding 124 grain +p ammo just for training/range work gets expensive. I used use the old 9mmNATO to practice but ammo is hard to come by. I can get 115 grain 9mm so I am carrying 115 grain standard pressure critical defense now.

I know my experience might be pretty rare, but I could not get 147gr HST to feed reliably in my G43. And there are several threads about feed issues some have experienced. I tried several hundred 147gr HSTs (before they jumped to $1.25/rd) - and just not reliable enough to carry. It would shoot ranger T and bonded 147gr fine however. I went to 124gr gold dot and hornady XTP - no issues with several hundred round of each. Flip side is that the G19 eats 147gr HSTs just fine. For me, kind of a moot point now anyway as I've moved on from the G43 (yes, I know, this is glocktalk).

HSTs and Ranger T are my choices. My 43X, 43 and G26 eat them up and they group consistently.

HST, not a fan of bonded in short bbls.
