Wondering what everyone recommends. I am getting a G45 soon and I will be mounting a red dot for target/SHTF/getting into some shooting classes. As much as I'd love a Trijicon, the budget does not allow it right now. Looking for something budget friendly, crisp reticle, and on the smaller side. Thanks in advance!

I have a Holosun 508T green dot mounted on the slide of one of my G19s. It works well for me.

I bought a Trijicon RMR and the 508T from Optics Planet to compare them side by side to determine which one worked best for me. I returned the RMR to Optics Planet (free return shipping) and kept the 508T.

I found the coatings on the RMR created visual problems for me when gazing through the sight. The RMR's coatings decrease light transmission through the glass window.

I’m a fan of both the RMR and the HS. The Holosun 508T is a fantastic RDS. Haven’t used their SCS but really like the idea of no plate

I like the RMR and the RMRcc.

Since the new top load model was announced the price has come WAY down. Shop around and use the right coupon code and the Holosun isn’t saving you much at all.

I prefer the 6moa dot.

Check out Primary Arms and look at the Trijicon factory $100 rebate on the RMR.

I can swing it if I need to, I just was planning on setting up a cheaper Glock to beat up at the range. I was hoping to hear from some guys that there’s some good options out there that don’t cost as much as the gun lol
I have an RMR, and I have two Holosuns (507). Value-wise... Holosuns rule, IMO.

You can get the Holosun SCS all day long for $350 shipped. Great sight, but I strongly recommend replacing the screws with US made ones. One of mine broke the first time I shot it. Using Battlewerks screws now and no more problem.

I've ran an RMR type 2 on my duty pistol for the past two years. Great optic and I'm very satisfied with it. Two weeks ago we began transitioning the entire department over to MOS G17's. The optic that was chosen was the Holosun 508T with green dot.

We've ran about 70 people through the training so far great results. The Holosun offers several advantages of the RMR. Most notably is clearer glass with less distortion and the side loading battery tray so the optic doesn't have to be removed to change the battery. I've personally noticed that the green dot doesn't seem to starburst or flair as much as the red in lowlight, but that could just be my eyes.

I'm also running a 507c-x2 with ACCS reticle on my personal G19. Another great optic and I really like the reticle.

I've got no trigger time with them, but I'd love to try the SCS and enclosed emitter 509.

The RMR is awesome, but Holosun offers a lot for the money and has some distinct advantages, IMO.

Thank you very much! I’m definitely leaning towards a Holosun. Just after watching some videos, I really like the hs507c-gr-x2-acss, especially for the price.

That is my most recent optic acquisition. It's on my EDC. I really like the chevron reticle.

I purchased a 17.5 mos and Holosun SCS on this forum a few months back. I still haven't mounted the optic or shot the gun. I did some research on it post purchase and definitely will use the battlewerks screws.

I have looked at the SCS and it seems ok. More information to follow once I mount and shoot it.

I didn't really have much of a budget limit but wanted something direct mount. I just didn't want to mount an optic on a plate and then mount it on the MOS system and then have to install dolphin skyscraper heights sights to co witness.

I am in the process of trying to build a gun around a delta point pro (was looking at the WC SFX series, or even having my 226 cut for an exuberant price) but will try this SCS first.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm new to the red dot world, I've always used my irons. Why do people not like the plate? I don't have the G45 in my hands yet with an optic so I can't see how it mounts. It seems like you can get better red dots, but have to "settle" on using a plate. Is there not enough thread to hold the optic to the plate? Or is it simply because the plate makes the optic sit higher?

The plate raises the height of the dot. The lower the dot, the more natural and easy it is to acquire.
