The new gun control attempts are to ban Glocks and similar striker fired guns because of “Glock switches”. They are attempting to ban any gun that can accept such devices , so in reality it would be a ban on striker fired guns . So , what hammer fired gun would you carry in such an atmosphere?

The only hammer fired guns that I like are 1911's. I don't like any hammer fired gun that is a DA/SA/Decocker and most of those guns are a little too large for IWB concealed carry anyway.

However, since nobody is making full auto switches for any other guns besides Glocks such a ban would not be applied to ALL striker fired guns and there are other smaller, lighter weight striker fired pistols I could chose from I like the S&W 40 caliber shield and that could replace my G23

1. 1911 of some quality variant.
2. 3rd Gen Smith of some sort.
3. USP of some sort.

I could go on, but there are too many great options to list. The above are my top three in order. I didn’t list caliber because I don’t really care about it so long as it’s one of the service cartridges.

My 1911's and my 3rd gen S&W's. Maybe a SIG Classic P-series. (If they'd resurrect the P239 and P245.)

The USP's were nice, but I never went through the armorer class for them, and the only 2 guys I knew who were HK USP armorers didn't like working on them. :ROFLMAO:

If such a 'ban striker guns' movement takes hold and gains a lot of traction, I'd hope that S&W would recreate the 3rd gen guns as an improved 4th gen series. They were just about at the point where the extractors were about to become drop-in parts. In my last (4th) armorer class a new extractor dropped into a 5906TSW slide and gauged perfect without any fitting. That would just leave the sear release levers being fitted parts, and I'm sure the engineers would figure out a new way to resolve that in a 4th gen design.

I always wished they'd have offered an all-stainless compact single-stack, ala 3913 or 3913TSW but with a stainless frame. Even a 908S with a stainless frame would've been fine.

On the other hand, being an old revolver shooter (service revolver days), I'd keep using my 5 & 6-shot wheelies, too. Might even look around for a 7rd S&W 686 Plus. ;)

If size doesn't matter I'd carry the finest looking and possibly finest choice, the Browning 1935 or the new SA interpretation of same. If size counts a PX4 Compact or S&W Shield EZ if the hammer doesn't have to be exposed.

Sig 938, Springfield EMP, or one of several revolvers.
