The Q5 SF was optics ready before the PDP--no improvement. PPQ came with lock lugs (ie, no Gen1 or Gen2 PDP).
The Q5/Q4 SF created the PDP grip--no improvement.
The Q5 slide cuts are deeper than the PDP "SUPERTERRIAN" grips on the PDP but both are the same width. Meaning the PPQ with slide cuts has more "terrain" grip than the PDP--no improvement.
AND THEN Walther adds slide cuts to the PDP? WHY?!

Only improvement here is the Q5 SF tang causes a horrible feel on the thumb knuckle...but the PDP created a new knuckle area by squaring the PPQ tang. Again, why? --created a new problem.

I think Walther totally messed up by killing off the much sleeker PPQ.

Zero improvements to the Q5/Q4 SF line up. Just fatter slide. The optic on the Q5 and PDP sit on the same place on the slide. Has to. Parts are interchangeable. They just made the slide way taller.

Yeah not true

The Dynamic Trigger as standard gear is a huge improvement. The Q4/Q5 came with that same crap trigger from the plastic gun.

I don't know. A polymer PDP Pro with Dynamic Trigger goes for $600 right now. It's not that exciting of an upgrade given you can buy it off Walther's website.

On your Black Tie? Sure. But give up everything nice about the Q slide to get the Dynamic trigger? no value added.

Even Humble Marksman, who I really like, doesn't say anything that is new or not true of the Q5 SF. They are just the same gun, crappier slide.
It’s definitely not new in any way. Just has the Dynamic Trigger. Not sure the slide is “crappier” either. It has larger lightening cuts than the Q5 SF.

I’m not saying it’s worth an upgrade is you already have the Q5 SF, but I think it’s likely a better option over the Q5 if you’re trying to choose.

No.
The optic on the pdp sits in front of the rear sight , whereas the Q4 and 5 you lose the rear sight .
Not if you're using one of the three (3) different available optics plates from CHPWS (rear irons, front irons, or no irons) like this plate on my Q4 SF OR...

This 4" steel framed super-smooth shooter is the perfect size for me and it looks the part as well. In addition to the CHPWS optics plate with it's tall rear blacked-out iron sight, I added a Night Fision tall front sight with a tritium dot, the Walther Dynamic Performance Trigger, a Walther Tungsten weighted guide rod recoil spring assembly, an Armory Craft Match SPORT Takedown Lever, a set of Lok Wraparound Grips, and a TLR-8A and HE-507C for good measure. No need for the magwell for me, as it took away from the "all-business" look. For a final touch, I had Earl's Walther Repair Service out of VA custom cut a M13.5x1LH threaded barrel for me to use with my other left-handed 9mm suppressor pistons like this one in my S.Co Omega 9 can...

This "Mandalorian-looking" shooter is friggin' awesome, be it sending 147gr freedom seeds down range or just holding it in your hand(s) admiring it's perfect balance & stellar appearance. If they announce and release a 4" PDP Match Steel Frame, I'd gladly drop some coin for it, but I doubt they will especially since the new 5" version seems to be aimed at competing with SIG's P320 AXG Legion...

FYI...

There's a 4.5" Steel Framed Full Size and 4" Steel Frame Compact as well but they will have just the standard trigger, no magwell, and no lightning cuts in the slide. No word yet on when these will be available here in the U.S. ...

I went ahead and snatched up the new 5" PDP Match Steel Frame and added a light and red dot. I plan on putting a good 250 rds of 124 & 147 grain ammo through it this weekend for some break-in work. I'm waiting for the Lok Grips thin Veloce grip, a separate DP Sear Housing (to go with the already installed DP trigger and trigger bar), a PDP Match Long Stroke Guide Rod w/ 14# spring from ZR Tactical Solutions, and a PDP Match specific 5.5" threaded barrel from Earl's in VA. ...
