*Video* Buford Pusser's Shooting Of Louise Hathcock; Justified Or Not>?

Being a Dixieland native, Buford Pusser is an icon to both the South, and law enforcement.

However, after years of research, I came to the conclusion, that a great deal of the legend was based on myth. Pusser himself noted that the original movie was a solid 20% pure Hollywood, including the "big stick."

One thing is for sure: He had a shooting, that resulted in the death of Louise Hathcock. Uncovered evidence has one researcher contending it was murder.

Here's the historical version of the shooting:

This is a video, claiming the shooting was "murder."

Any thoughts? :dunno:

Oliver Stone started this historical docudramas thing, knowing visual impact is much more impactful to the majority of people than reading.

Sheriff Pussard was from a bygone era of law enforcement. How things were done 'back in the day' was a little different than from today. And that's either good or bad, take your pick.

As Lily Rush said, there's no statute of limitations on MURDER.
There is when your suspect is dead.

Anyone one else get the irony about people that made their livings as criminals, might have also been the victim of a crime, and whining about it?

There's this show called my name is Earl. He was watching TV and learned that Carson Daly theorized about this stuff called "Karma".

Hhhhmmm, lets see here. Who do I believe? A bootlegging whore who ran a cathouse, or a legendary lawman who was loved by all but the criminal element who was called a gentle giant and rarely even wore a gun? That's a tough one alright.

As for the lifeless idiot making these videos, look through his account. He admits he has connections to the Hathcock family. He also has other conspiracy videos trying to discredit basically everything Pusser ever did. He's a grade A quack. As hinted at by someone else, he's seen JFK a few too many times. He also probably believes JFK is a historical documentary.

It's obvious what happened here. The magic bullets that killed JFK clearly flew cross country, killed Pusser's wife, hit him, and then moved onto their next target.

Thoughts?

The "historical account" that I forced myself to read was so painfully a mess that I couldn't bring myself to watch the quack's video. I'm not speeling or grammar nazi, Lord knows mine aren't the best at times, but then again I don't write "historically accurate" accounts for the purposes of public viewing. Man that was bad.

Didn't watch the video, couldn't subject myself to the possibility of worse.

Gee, this is like a messy scene with the perimeter guy saying, "You don't want to look in there." Now I gotta look....

The simple fact and fatal flaw that these things have is that while the way things were done in past decades might be considered illegal today they were not then.

There was a time in this country if the local law told you to get out of town and you did not they would simply hunt you down and shoot you on sight. Today we would consider that murder. But then it was considered good police work.

Well, that was but a chapter in Dragoon's career. What he meant was in the 1180's, when Dragoon was the Shire Reeve of Upper Uncton, he dealt with undesirables in that manner.
We did not operate that way in the shire, we always gave them a fair trial followed by a nice hanging.

:tongueout::rofl:

In those days, with no NLRB around, and people had to toil in the fields from sunup to sundown, day in day out, any excuse will do to have a party.

See, if you hang 'em first, the trial goes faster.

Come after me and kill my wife instead and I know who you are. Justice will be swift!
If it involves wife or children, perhaps just slow enough to be satisfying? Just saying.
