Just curious any one know of the 30 being used by any law enforcement, security, military, corrections, conservation, etc for everyday useage. Or even the 41 perhaps.

Massad Ayoob probably knows specific departments in the U.S. that use the G30 for a duty weapon. You can submit a question to Mas in the GATE Self-Defense Forum at Glock Talk. I assume there are several agencies using it since Glock, Inc. states in the G30 model description on their website that "...the G30 is the first choice of plainclothes officers and security personnel in the US."

Very true...There were lots of people who cobbled them together that way. But when LAPD had a chance to try it, and liked it they went to Glock and requested it be made. (LEO's are not likely to carry a gun that's pieced together for liability.)

I remember catching an article where the Garland cop that shot the cartoon terrorists had a Glock 30 of some type (maybe SF?), definitely a .45. I think Garland PD issues a Glock 17 but does allow other weapons that meet the regulations of the department - especially since this 30 year veteran at 60 years old definitely knew how to engage. Just an Obama aside - did you know that one of the handguns used by the would-be terrorists was one that was bought under the watchful eye of the ATF Fast and Furious gunwalker debacle?

Pinellas County deputies I believe are allowed to carry them. Don't quote me on that but I thought that I'd read it somewhere. I was in traffic court last year in Pinellas County and the deputy (bailiff?) had a 30 strapped on her.

I haven't worked with any agencies who issue them. But I worked with a sheriff's deputy in south Florida who carried one every day. It's a pretty progressive agency and allows a variety of sidearm choices. Their SWAT team even bought 300BLK SBR's - though they traded the uppers for 5.56 after they kept having trouble getting ammo.
