Turknelli M4 clones, any one lucky?

Anyone with success stories with >500 round Benelli clones in real (non-TFB Youtube) life. Anyone attesting to theirs "not being as bad" as everyone thinks they are.

Pistons peening on the receiver seems to be the biggest mechanical issue.

Seems like a new player the Orthos S4, dressed up for tactical looks, on the market.

I've been through 4 M4 Turk clones so far. Utter junk. The pistons and the piston chambers are just not even close to what they need to be. Materials and machining both.

Get a Remington V3 if you want the same operating system but not a Benelli. Prior Remington had the VersaMax as well, but it has been dropped. Even Remington had some QC issues, but most of them ran fine. I designed the feature set of the VersaMax Tactical for Remington, and I was always trying to get them to up the QC and consistency.

The M2 clones are a much better attempt in general. But then the bolt spring and extractors are easy fixes, whereas one can't parts swap an M4 clone (executed poorly) into acceptable.

I have an AKSA S4 imported by SDS and sold by Centerfire Systems. I have owned it for a while. Life is busy and I finally had a chance to shoot it with my son in August. I shot about 100 LE low-recoil slugs (a combination of Federal and Winchester) and about 200 rounds of Federal tactical 00 buck through it.

It cycled and shot everything I fed it. I didn't try it to shoot any target loads or garbage ammunition. Accuracy seems to be on point, I didn't shoot over 25 yards. I didn't have a single failure.

I purchased a 7-round mag tube, follower, spring, and a couple of other parts that would make it 922R compliant. I haven't gotten around to installing them yet.

Centerfire Systems has the Aksa S4 for $379 now. I paid $499.

There is an article talking about replacing a few parts to make the Aksa S4 more reliable here:

Hope this helps.

I am debating ordering one. I thought the issues were with the butstocks needing to be replaced with real Benelli or Messa ones.

Shot M4 Benelli this weekend, with a few others to test out some Black Aces GT9 buckshot at 1450 fps. Those rounds might tear up copies… and I think the ammo is from Turkey.
