Trying to conceal a G43X

I recently bought a 43X and am having a hard time trying to conceal it. I'm using a Tulster kydex holster, but this long grip really prints on me when wearing any type of shirt. I'm thinking I may need to go back to my Springfield XDS Mod2 or Shield 2.0. Do the holsters with a claw make a big difference in holding the gun closer to your body for less printing? I was completely happy with my XDS, but got the 43X for the higher capacity. I'm 5/10 with a thin build and this 43X really pokes out when I move around. I don't appendix carry, so that's not an option. Thanks for any ideas.

I carry my 43X in a Vedder Lit-tuck OWB kydex holster and it conceals just find, but for those of small or thin stature , a lot of guns are just too big , I would suggest either a Glock 43, or the Sig 365, these two are very easy to conceal, and are reliable..you can carry these guns in an ankle holster or a number of IWB or OWB holsters, either leather or kydex,

yup,,, i have trouble concealing anything larger than s&w637 under a light shirt. i know for sure the g43 would work, but a 43x, no way. i'm 5'9'' 165#, i really think guys that say they can conceal a glock19 are wearing a heavy loose shirt or don't know they are printing. i've seen guys at the mall wearing a t shirt and can see their gun plain as day.

I am 6’4” and carry a 43X IWB at 4 O’Clock. I use a Clinger 4V no print holster and it works fine. Even a white T Shirt works. The holster presses the grip close to the body. Very comfortable also. But I also carry a G19 with out it printing also. It seems height and weight play a role here. Holster plays a role also.

This is why I stuck with my 43. While I did try the 43X at my LGS on for size it wasn't that much different than my 19, at least not enough of a difference to make me want it. Also the silver slide was a no go for me. I do however, carry my 19 appendix or IWB at 3:30. People are built different I'm glad there are plenty of options out there to find what works best for you. I'm 5'11" 220 lbs. I much prefer IWB carry to OWB. Ten years ago it was the other way around. With so many holster options out there, I'm confident you will find the perfect combo. Good luck!

I'm thin build, too, and when I have to dress nice and can't dress around the gun as much, I can't go any bigger than the original G43 under tucked dress shirts, etc.

That's what the P365 is for. I've yet to carry mine as I want one more outing at the range first, but I'm hoping it will carry as well as the 43 does for deep concealment.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm left handed and tried everything from 7-9 o'clock. It simply doesn't work with my build. I had an original 43 and although it concealed well, I found the grip too small and had a hard time getting good draws with it. Same thing with the P365 (plus I'm not confident in it's reliability yet)... I guess I'll just have to go back to an XDS Mod2 or Shield 2.0, as those were good fits for me. At least there's options haha...

Go with what works for you. You have balance your concealment needs (for some of us it has to be 100% concealed 100% of the time - I get this), capacity/capability and comfort.

The p365 checks all those boxes for me. The G43 does as well, it’s just a little light on capacity.

If an XDS is working for you, go with it and carry on.

I am 6' and 200 lbs. and have carried a G-23 for over 20 years. Even when I weighed 165 I still carried the G-23.
Now I am changing over to the G-43X, and it conceals better and easier to me. The main thing is to have a forward cant, to keep the butt up against me. It just hides in my Love handles.
I have checked with my wife before leaving and have her watch when I bend and stoop to let me know.
I never had any problems with the G-23, so I don't expect any with the G-43X.

If the Shield works for you, you're in good shape, especially if you can be confident in MagGuts spring kits: 8+1 with the flush fit mag in the gun and 10 rounds in a backup mag (with the +2 base).

I wish the Shield worked as well for me as the G43 does!

I was a grownup with kids when the G26 came out. It was considered a game changer, because the grip was the thing that printed the most and made a pistol harder to conceal. It is no longer popular to say so but for a lot of people it is still true. A single stack with a longer grip is a different way to fit 10 rounds in a magazine, and it may be more comfortable, but for a lot of folks it is going to be harder to conceal. It is for me. Sounds like it may be so for you.

I hear you! I have the same problem. Besides being 71 years old, I'm 5-7 and 130#. I have problems concealing. In the winter I can carry my Glock 27 or my XD Mod2 45 SC without any problem, but for warm weather, which is 9 or 10 months out of the year here in East Texas, I have a hard time concealing. I had a 43 for awhile but sold it and got the P365 last year. I considered the 43X but the P365 with the 12 round mag is still smaller and lighter then the 43X with the 10 round mag so whats the point? I love Glocks and would prefer to carry a Glock but until they can figure out how to make smaller pistols with higher capacities I guess I'll have to go a different way. I would love a 45acp Glock but the Glock 30's are like trying to grip a 2x4 for me, which is why I have the XD. It's smaller and lighter then the Glock 30's but has the same capacity and I can grip and shoot it without any problem. OK enough ranting, sorry about that!

Go with what works for you.

My guess is a different holster, and cant angle, would work.

But you do what works best for you. Smaller grip, smaller gun, lighter gun, makes it all easier.

Don't stress over a little printing I'm about your size and carry the same pistol and holster, with a t-shirt only the only time the gun actually prints is when i bend over at the waist. Most people observe very little but if you are worried about it then yes the claw will help and Tulster does not make a holster with one. If I needed a claw holster I would probably try that Vedder holster first.

I find my 43X a very nice concealed carry, different from my G26, but not really better or worse. I found the same as previous opinions, the cant has the most overall printing effect for me, second Is ride height and third how tight. So I experimented for a while and found the 43X does best for me OWB, very slim Kydex custom holster, highest ride height somewhere between 15 & 20 degree cant centered around 3 o’clock. This puts the grip, even bending over up and just under my bicep area. Standing straight it puts it forward hugging my ribs. A cotton button down totally will do the job.
I’ve carried my G26 a lot IWB and AIWB with a minimalist trigger guard and clip and don’t think it is any better and is definitely worse comfort wise. I have the same minimalist holster for the 43X also and will carry it in the same position but because I can’t get a solid cant like going OWB, and it sits low, the printing can be worse. But there are those times where it is a better option to go AIWB. But, I don’t think there is really any one answer to it unless the weather and temperature never change and you wear the same clothes every day. It’s all subject to what your wearing or willing to wear the type of clothing material, seasonal changes. If your thinking there is only one way and one holster and if it doesn’t work then change the pistol then I wouldn’t know what to say. I can’t imagine ditching what I prefer to carry over finding what works. I also agree with the other posting in that there may be a time bending over or something makes it print and someone may notice although probably not, but who cares really if your a responsible person legally allowed to do so. One day you may encounter someone who wants to make a big deal about it, the best thing you can do if that should happen is know in advance how you will handle it. It’s More that persons problem in my opinion then mine especially if you live in a state where concealed is the standard but there are no laws against open carry.

Keep at it, you will find what works through trial and error and then have a big drawer full of Holsters you don’t use like a lot of people including myself.
