Hello. With reference to a TLR-6 light, with laser, for a G19.5, is there any value to having the built-in laser in the light? From what i have learned on this forum, the laser, used to acquire a target, is nearly useless. If that is the case, why would one want it? Why not just the light without the laser feature. I don't need or want the laser, if it has no value, so was thinking about getting a TLR-7. Any comment will be appreciated.

Skip the laser idea, IMO. There are some that agree with lasers, but most don't.

Get the TLR-7A, you'll be glad you did; not the TLR-7. Throw some night sights on, too, and you've got probably the best "Do-Everything" gun ever.
Hello Sir. Thanks for the info and guidance. I have a Holosun HS507C and suppressor night sights (for co-witnessing) already on the G19.5. Will get the TLR7A and not the TRL7.
Have a great and safe day, Sir.

That'll be one of the best setup already "Do-Everything" guns, then. :)

You're welcome. Enjoy :)

I don't see much use for a laser personally, but if you're looking for a light get a TLR7A Flex, I don't care for the TRL6.

My experience with the TLR6 on a G48 MOS so far. Some of this may be beneficial to you with the G19.

I picked that light to keep things skinny, it does that well and does have its drawbacks. Namely, holsters are not common or varied for that combo. If I want a CompTac or Safariland, I have to ditch the light.

Before getting a light, take a look at the holsters available for the combos you are considering.

As far as lasers, they have their uses and are not for everyone. Your needs and mileage will vary significantly from mine or others.

If you don't have a clear reason for a laser and it is stretching the budget, buy the light-only version and spend the savings on a good holster.

I don’t own a TLR- 6, but I do own a couple of TLR-2’s. I have mixed feelings on them. Holsters get way harder to find but I do like it on my HD pistol.

On EDC, I wouldn’t spend the extra money. I have a TLR-7 on my G19 and even that is starting to feel like overkill when I carry it. To each their own I suppose but no laser for me in EDC

Thank you for the comments. From the responses i have got so far, it definitely looks like a TLR7A is the way to go. Also, my apology to all; i made an error and the TRL

Many thanks for the great comments and guidance. I have not as yet purchased a light for either of my handguns (i only own 2) so the holster issue you brought up is a huge point. My initial question was the value of having a laser, either integrated with a light or as a single unit. From what i gather here, and most all on the GT forums are seasoned and expert shooters, the laser is of limited value as an aid. So, i will look only for lights which do not integrate a laser. My initial thought was that the laser might not be readily visible in bright sunlight which would make it useless. Again, thank you for taking time to respond. Have a great and safe day, Sir.
6 should have been a TLR6.

So far, on my two handguns, all i have are Holosun 507C, 507K X2, and suppressor night sights for co-witnessing. After hearing some great comments, i may just stary away from lights for now. Thank you for the good comments. Have a great and safe day.

I have no idea yet; perhaps someone can give the answer - - else i can look it up on the web.
Apparently there are three models: TLR-7 Contour, TLR-7 Sub, and a TLR-7 Flex. The pries are from high to low in the order given. I think for a comparison, will take further research into the features of each.

The TLR-7A has the much newer and updated and better switches. The original TLR-7 had the early switch design, on the side, as @CC Glock has. Not exactly bad, but most people did not care for that switch setup, myself included. TLR-7 Sub is for smaller guns like P365, Glock 43X MoS, etc.

TLR-7A is what you seek... :)

Thank you for the info. So far, everyone is suggesting the TLR-7A as the best choice for the G19.5 so that will be my pick. Have a great day and a safe one as well.

I think you’ve made a very solid choice. If you haven’t already, try to find a good WML course. Things like the ‘umbrella technique’ can be quite useful. Also, just as with the pistol itself, train with either hand. Get use to manipulating all the controls with your non-dominant hand.

TLR 6 sucks. You don't need a laser and the light isn't much brighter than you lighting a match. The TLR 7A is a good choice or of course you could get the X300U if you really wanted to get fancy.
