For those who have one or who have shot the Beretta M9A1 Compact Inox, what are your impressions of it? Local Cabelas has a used one in pretty good condition for $499.99 plus tax. I dont know what it comes with as far as mags case etc. Is that a decent price for one? Tempted to pick it up for a house gun and occasional carry gun.

I like them thats the one I would like to get. price wise I have no idea so cant help with that. A guy at work has one ive shot a few times and I really wanted one after shooting it :) . He said he has never had any issues with it as far as shooting/malfunctions. It was his carry gun...well at least in the rotation :) .

Yeah BAC but for a guy looking at it more as a NON collector but CC weapon its still a good gun :) . I agree 100% if given a choice id take the "home grown" variety of a gun every time(a Italian Beretta vs a USA one, a German Sig VS a American one, etc, etc) but if im getting it to use and carry and probably get some wear on it id not be as picky.

I certainly understand and it makes sense.

Several Detectives carried them when I was with the LAPD. They all liked them allot even if they are not really small enough for truly concealed carry.

I shot one once and liked it allot, but then I also liked the full sized Beretta 92 also.

I've got an earlier Italian version without rail, and you're right they aren't all that compact. Here's mine next to my 92A1.

I carry mine with a 15 round magazine and a CZ SP-01 Base Plate.

My Glock 19 weighs 30.25 oz loaded and my Beretta Compact L 37.55 oz. So, a bit more weight but I shoot the Beretta more accurately and I am used to the DA/SA and Safety/Decocker.

For $499.99 you would have a really nice house gun and with the rail you can add a light of your choice.

I looked at the 92 again but wound up getting a Glock 19 from a local pawn shop. The Glock was priced at $50 less than the Beretta and it looks to be unfired or at best only a few rounds to it. There isnt a mark on it anwhere and the serial number puts it a June 2013. I couldnt pass it up and it will serve my wife and I well as the house gun.

Appreciate the input on the Beretta though and i came close to picking it up and may regeret not doing so.

Can't speak for the compact, but I have a Italian 92fs Inox. While too big to carry, it is a well built, heavy 9mm that shoots like an absolute dream. 100% reliable, recoil like a cap gun, and just plain fun to shoot. Oh, and it's dead sexy too

The only time a rail belongs on a pistol is on a full sized duty or HD gun that needs to wear a light. Compact anything ain't it.

I like the glock 19 with a light over a lot of full size guns. It's nice when the gun is big enough to fill the hand, but not so big that I can't easily reach all the controls.
