My plan is to do that soon, as in tomorrow or this week. I also wanted to get a photo of the optics cut with plate removed. We can google those images, but I'm with you, I'd like to see it on a real unit in someone's hands.

My opinions I will be posting will be fair, or as fair as I can make them. Am I invested since I bought it? Yes, and I think that lends a degree of authenticity as I did not get an "influencer" copy as so many of these Youtube channels apparently did. However, if the thing sucks, I'm not too invested or caught up in my own stuff to where I won't tell the truth, albeit from my points of view. Some things I will seem too fair, and others I may seem too hard on it. My goal will be to present the realities of it, as I do like it, and if it runs, I'm gonna tell you so.

I'm proooobably gonna do a rare Sunday range trip tomorrow. The amount of interest has me more hyped to get out and see. As I said, if I go, the plan is a box of my 115 gr Magtech JHPs, then 200-300 rounds of 115 gr S&B FMJ, and then another 3 mags 1 box of Magtech JHPs. If it can do that without a hitch, we're off to a damn good start. If it burps a little, like once or twice, chalk that up to break in. If it craps the bed and has multiple stoppages, I'll be reporting that, too. Contact with Ruger will be happening, also. Not to be a Karen, but to give them feedback and see if they advise anything.
It's getting mostly good reviews and seems to be very reliable. The only complaints I've heard was the non-ergonomic grip compared to Glock or PSA.

Your objectivity is appreciated. You've stated that it's really not for you, but you're still presenting both sides of your arguments and findings and having fair opinions of it. :)

I've got no dog in the hunt nor do I have any hate in me. Just call it like I see it but always wish well of others and that includes new products. I hope Ruger is successful, I really do.

This is a deal killer for me and it's on both sides of the frame. Surprised the top of the slide doesn't say point this way with an arrow.

Why can't that be a removable sticker? They don't print that permanently on the side of your car and improperly used cars are far more dangerous than guns.

The word is that Magpul and Ruger are going to be creating more grip frame options, as I said. Glock 26, 17, probably X mullet options.
I'm betting the answer to being able to buy the FCU and slide as a kit from Ruger is a no, but I have hope. But I'll also bet there will be a display of all kinds of grips in the MagPul booth at SHOT.

What might really push me on this is if they fit in my holsters I already own.
Looks like the trigger guard is different enough it might mess with a few holsters. But the reviewers I watched tried many holsters that worked great.

What is the overall width? My 19 is about 1.25" but Ruger only lists the slide width....not overall.

I love my Glocks but someday, they're going to have to get up to speed with their OEM sights, and now, an optics ready pistol that doesn't use plate. My guess is that if you pick the right optic you wouldn't even have to change sights in order to use them? Thanks

Did you hear/read somewhere that they may do a .40 chambering?

Or are you just hoping that they might?

Yes, unconfirmed. Yes.

I could send an email and get an answer, but then they would ask me not to talk about it. Same as the new version of the American rifles and the LC10mm.

You can take a Glock Slide and Glock mag and run .40 in it tomorrow. Why wait for them to come out with a version?

I have Glocks in 40. But I want the less expensive, better version from Ruger. 😁

I don't buy Glock slides either and I'm embarrassed to say how many I've built and own. Should have said Glock compatible slide. Either way, the G23 compatible slide will go right on and you would be good to go with an ejector change and new mags.

It should be the exact same dimensions within a few millimeters of the G19 slide. You can literally take your 19 or 23 slide and it will go right on the Ruger and or take your Ruger slide and use on a Glock 19 frame.

If you wanted a 17/34 sized slide, you could also do that with the Ruger or G19 too. You will need a filler piece for the slide and a G5 17/34 barrel as it uses the G19 sized locking block.

Here is the filler piece.

Looks like a cross between a PSA Dagger and a Shadow Systems MR920. If it shoots like the SS at the Dagger price point it might be a good buy. Let's get some range reports and see...

Great writeup with pictures by the OP. That alone is reason to want one. Thanks!!

My .40 slides say S&W on the side of them, so that's a no-go for me without spending even more money.

Some of the Glock based S&W slides can be converted to work on a Glock with a slight modification. Some do this just because and others do it as the parts are cheaper than equivalent Glock parts.

The range reports I've seen have all be very positive.

My one and only Glock is a Gen 2 G22 which I carried on duty and then bought when I retired. Been looking at G 19 clones but dont really need one. I am a Ruger fan from way back and own a bunch of different ones. So the RXM just entered my realm of interest. I probably will never buy one if I did it'd probably be the Ruger.

As for Ruger making a G19 clone, it just makes sense. The G19 and clones is probably the most popular gun on the planet these days and like the 1911 and Ar15 it's about time Ruger jumped on the band wagon. They have a huge customer base so again, it just makes sense.

Like I mentioned, I think the got the main trigger guard dimensions right, and just left the point out at the front. I'll try some G19 holsters in a bit.
ETA: I put it in my SERPA DERPA for G19, and it also fit into my G19 kydex IWB holster. It did click in, but the feel was a bit mushy, so exactly as Mixup98 said: It'll fit G19 fitted holsters, but some adjustments to the tension screws may be required. Mag release is not being actuated by this holster, which is Gen 3 specific, and seems to have a flared mag button point for extended mag releases. That's fair, and a lot better than the P-10C or Dagger were able to say.

Got my calipers out... :D Widest point aside of magwelll, is the slide stop, and it's literally just the face of the slidestop. Also, the sight height in conjunction with the depth of optics cut and being able to direct mount, I can't see needing new sights to sight through the bottom of virtually any optic window. Like I said, Ruger did this optics cut right. To my knowledge, no one has done something like this. The 4 little index pins can be mounted in several different footprint configurations for certain optic footprint patterns, and function as drop in recoil lugs. My Max 9 has a similar system of drop in recoil lugs, very smart on their part.

Actual slide width is: 1.0"
Front index point: 1.14"
Slide stop width is: 1.22"
Grip width average is 1.15" or a hair less on how you measure. The whole grey grip frame is largely 1.15" except for some of those aforementioned exceptions.
