While shooting my recently acquired TX22 pistol I'm finding the factory sights a bit lacking so I began looking for better options, finding some inexpensive fiber optic types in addition to a few night sight options (which are out of stock everywhere). This made me wonder if any of you TX22 owners have changed out the factory sights for something better, and if so, what did you choose? I'm aware of but not interested in the red dot optic mount option.

Taurus themselves offers a steel (windage adjustable only) night sight set with orange front insert, Made by Ameriglo that looks pretty good, for $79. As a sidenote these sights will also fit the Taurus G3 and G2c model pistols. I may go this route...

I decided to give the night sights I linked to above at the ShopTaurus website a try.

I'll be sure to report back with some commentary after I receive and install them. In the meantime I'll still enjoy shooting it...like most everyone else who owns one has relayed, it's worked with everything I've put through it including subsonics with no issues whatsoever. In fact I'm pretty impressed with how easy it is to rack the slide and load mags by hand (I found the included mag loader to be slower and more awkward to use), and how the empties are ejected with great authority.

The fact that these pistols are inexpensive and affordable compared to many of the "mainstay" fully machined .22 semiauto pistols that have ruled the roost for decades and that can cost hundreds of dollars more, there's no denying that these TX22 pistols just work, and I'm glad that I was finally able to acquire one quite unexpectedly this past week :)

Looking forward to your report on the Ameriglo sights. I bought a fiber optic front sight for mine, but have not installed it. The swap doesn't look hard. I just haven't gotten around to it. I think the fiber front sight was about $20.

ETA: Is that a Sparrow suppressor on your TX22?

The front sight replacement is exactly the same as changing out the front sight on a Glock pistol; very easy. All that's required to do is to separate the slide from the frame, and remove the recoil assembly and barrel from the slide. Using a 5/64" allen wrench remove the machine screw that's holding in the OEM front sight from the underside of the slide and pop off the sight. Place your new front sight in position (check to make sure if there's a correct orientation on your sight; if the sight has a slanted end it will face the shooter) and either using the original screw or one provided by the new sight manufacturer add a drop of purple Loctite onto the fastener threads and screw it in making sure that the sight is aligned parallel with the slide as you tighten, as there's a little bit of wiggle room between the oblong male projection in the bottom of the sight and the oblong female mating hole in the slide. When done wipe off any Loctite that may have squeezed out around the edges of the sight and let the Loctite setup for 24 hours before shooting.

Below is Tandemkross' installation video for the TX22 sights they offer...have a look-see if you want:

I'm usually ok with stock sight offerings, owning very few pistols with aftermarket fiber optic sights installed. Cost isn't generally a factor with me, and considering how inexpensive the TX22 pistol was to begin with I had no problems making the decision that night sights were what I wanted for it ;)

The suppressor is a Dead Air Mask HD :)

I received and installed the Ameriglo night sights from Taurus today for the TX22:

One caveat though...the two provided screws, which are equal in thread pitch and length are not threaded entirely so they both prematurely bottomed out in the male front sight projection (that falls into the corresponding female slot in the slide ala Glock) without making contact with the underside of the slide. Thankfully I had a very small washer that I placed between the screw and the slide, and it was thick enough to allow the sight to be tightened down properly.

I recall weeks ago watching a Taurus front sight installation video (maybe even the one above?) and there was a small brass flat washer included with the attaching screw which perhaps was meant to be included but for some reason wasn't.

Either way it should be no surprise that these sights offer heaps better low light performance than the plain white dots that come with the pistol, which I'm sure was a contributing factor to the pistol's overall low cost, and that's fine.

I'm gonna' fire off an email to Taurus' customer service shortly asking about it to see how they respond.

Just installed the Tandemkross sights on a TX competition model. Did have to remove quite a bit of material off the bottom of the sight. These did come with the brass washer used on the front sight.
They were definitely an upgrade to the stock sights.

Just took my TX22 to the range for the first this weekend. Love the smooth shooting with minimal recoil, but, the original sights really do suck. They are adjustable, but, every time I adjusted them, they fell out of zero fast. You could literally see the adjustment screw move after every shot. Very disappointed. So, I'm in the same boat looking for options.

Taurus TX22 night sights made by Ameriglo... I'm in process of looking for new sights, preferably suppressor height. The original sights on my new tx22 will not adjust in vertically... (Screw just turns without action). Taurus will send me new sights. I would like to find a better option.

the competition slide isn't very expensive, admittedly the C-more was more than the original gun price. Sure is fun to shoot now. I did have problems holding zero on the factory sights. So after I found zero again a drop of super glue seems to be holding the rear much better. I'd say for a hot dirty fix it works ok.
