They've been unavailable for some time, so if you're looking for one for your standard TX22 model I suggest that you act fast!

It's funny you mention that - mine broke just this last Sunday night. I was just about to start a thread about it.

By the picture above, it doesn't look like the competition kit would suffer the same fate. The barrel is longer, meaning the slide extends past the frame, so it's not just a flimsy piece of metal hanging down. Am I mistaken?

I checked back at ShopTaurus 2 hours after I made the initial thread here and they were already "Out of stock". Either Taurus isn't producing many at a time or there are an awful lot of people interested in this kit. I sure hope that those who were interested were able to order one!

The Competition Kit I feel is a neat improvement over the standard TX22 and a really nice platform, with increased barrel length and thickness (meaning there's no need for a thread adapter that needs to be removed/reinstalled during simple field stripping), and a clever barrel optic mounting system that works well without the issues often associated with mounting an optic to a rimfire slide. I spent $200 on the Taurus kit (slide/barrel/recoil assembly/optic plates) and am glad that I'm not one of those [now] spending $279 for a "revolutionary" aftermarket aluminum slide (w/sights/rear plate/optic cover plate - but no internals) for their Glock 44 - that only accepts Trijicon optics. There's a message there somewhere for the Glock fanbois, LOL.

Thanks to your heads-up a few months ago I scored one of the competition kits. It was well worth the 200 bucks and I'm very pleased with it. I just had to bug Taurus for the adapter plates that I didn't get at the time.
