This will be an interesting test to see after it is completed next month. Yeager changed his mind when a student completed his course using a G2 without issue. Looking at various comments on both videos, people have put several thousand rounds through their G2's without issue. On the Taurus forum folks are reporting 10K+ rounds as well. These pistols have come a long way and are excellent performers at bargain prices.

To me that speaks to the overpriced poly-gun market from some manufacturers. Not picking on Sig specifically but I'll use the 365 as an example. It started out at around $699. It's down to around the $440 mark now online. Locally they've been $500 or less OTD. I would not have liked or enjoyed being one of their $700 beta-testers only to see the price drop as far as it has. I've often said that in my opinion Glock and HK are also overpriced. So I very much like to see a pistol like Taurus or S&W or Ruger performing well at a lower price point. Good for the consumer. And since I'm loyal to the consumer and not a brand name I applaud anything that takes a bite out of the market share from the higher priced companies.

We'll see how well they hold up in this class.

My wife did some training with her G2 and NOT ONE ISSUE!!!

People will wake up soon and realize that this gun is here to stay.....and replace the Glock 26!

My first revolver and first pistol were Taurus (669VR and PT908). Both were flawless with a lot of rounds down range. I've had a couple of G2's and a 709, again all flawless. I'd have no issue carrying a G2 off-duty if permitted by agency policy. Full disclosure, the 'authorized list' predates me and I've been here almost 3 decades. It's never been updated though many have tried.

But as far as the G2, I like the looks and ergos of the pistol.

I keep hearing good things about this pistol but I just can’t get onboard with Taurus yet.
Keep in mind that Taurus had had more than a dozen different owners over the last 70+ years. The new owners/management have really taken the company to a new level over the last 5 or so years. That's why the G2 was the number one selling gun in America for quite a long time.

I have a G2 and a G2C 9 MM. Not a lot of difference to me. The G2C has nicer Rollmarks to my eye, The updated grip texture seems more like standardization across their many models. The do have some flaring differences in the ejection port and the biggy is no integral frame lock. I can't tell a difference shooting them. Naturally my G2 has a higher round count around 500, the G2C about 150.
I have a new G2C coming in 40.

I can't ignore the fact that they've been making this particular line for 15 years and thousands of people have been burned by bad ones. It's hard to praise them because they finally got it figured out.
Like the 365?

Yeager?

Taurus has indeed come a long way. No doubt may have problems, but I often wonder how many problems are user induced.
I have a P-140 that has been quite the reliable piece over the past how ever long I've had it. It does shoot about 5 inches low for me, but I know that and can adjust. I don't consider it a "problem" either.

Taurus is trying hard to turn their poor reputation around. They have dumped several pistols out of their 2019 catalog, have hired US Engineers, are building a manufacturing Plant in Georgia, they are making the Spectrum here and are going thru all of what they do build to increase QC. I applaud their effort and wish them the best of Luck. From what I have seen, they are starting to do a great job.
As a case in point, about 2 years ago, I had reason to buy another 5 shot 2" .38. I was done w/ S&W's newest J frames, the new J's are mostly MIM(Even the Barrel, BtW!), and are a poor example of the Iconic J frames of 60's. I happened upon a Taurus Mod. 85 5 shot snubbie stainless and took a real long look at it. I was amazed that every fit measurement on the little revolver was spot on. I bought it, took it home and opened it up to look. Every part of the little revolver was well put together. And yes, it did have MIM(nature of the Beast, anymore, I'm afraid!) parts in it, but everything was just as it should be. No misfitted parts, no too deep grind/file marks, no buggered up pieces. Gap was spot on. Timing was spot on. Backlash was spot on. DA pull was nice and smooth, at about 8lbs! SA perfect at 2.5lbs, etc. I was very impressed. I put it back together, lubed it, shot it at the range(It hit to the sights at 7 yds!), cleaned it up, and dropped into a pocket holster for later use. I have carried it and shot it every now and then w/ absolutely no problems. My only complaint is I bought the full stainless frame 85, and it is a little Tank. But then the weight keeps the +P from being punishing, so there you go.
I also have a long story about the PT111 G2(Now the G2C!) and what kind of great service it has given me(I have owned 3 of them!).
End conclusion is Taurus is trying hard to be a decent firearms manufacturer, and I think they are getting there. And this is from a Guy who used to say "Friends don't let friends buy Taurus firearms" Not anymore, I don't.

I suspect gun manufacturers are like car manufacturers in that reliability is becoming the rule rather than the exception with every passing year. I don’t own a G2C but I wouldn’t pop-poo anyone’s decision to get one, as long as they put enough ammo through it to make sure it works before relying on it. That’s no different than any gun, though, even Glocks. As long as Taurus is willing to fix a lemon, it’s not that big of a risk, IMO.

That's a good question. I occasionally see threads such as 'problem with my G2 or (insert X pistol here) yet you find out it was cheap ammo, questionable reloads, limp wristing, improper maintenance etc. There is a difference between that and a part breaking.

They're selling like hot cakes at my local shop. They have them for $189 after rebate. When I was there the other day a man and his wife were buying his and hers G2's. The salesman said that was his 9th G2 sold that day and it was only 2pm. There are 6 other salesman there at the gun counter.
