Stoped by the LGS yesterday just to look around and fell in love with a Taurus 942, was looking at getting a barkeep for the longest time now but saw this beauty and picked it up, felt the nice weight to it, plus I haven't seen one of them yet in the local store and they've gotten nothing but decent reviews online, so it eventually followed me home, can't wait to hit the range later today to try it. Oh and they had a decent deal running this weekend as well, buy any rimfire and get 100 rounds free. Going to make a nice fishing and snake gun

How is the trigger on the new model?? My brother got my dad a 94 just like that but the trigger was hard as a rock awful. would make a great lil snake gun, especially in magnum

I have a 22lr 942 and like it quite a bit. Mine has a few thousand rounds through it so far with no issues.

PS if you want to change the grips any grips designed for the 856 or older 85 revolvers will also fit the 942.

I am using the older Model 85 wood grips on my 856 and 942. Here is a photo of my older 3" 85 along with my 942 and 856.

Correct that is not usually the case at all.

My 942 has a pretty decent SA trigger pull but not S&W smooth. The DA pull is your typical 12# pull of most rimfire revolvers.

A lot of people coming from centerfire revolvers to rimfire revolvers tend to complain about the heavier trigger pull of rimfire revolvers. This is just nature of the beast since rimfire ammo requires a heavier hammer spring to ignite the rimfire primers. This goes for any brand of rimfire revolvers.

It's just Me but I would never even think to buy any Snub Nose Revolver in 22LR! I love the 22LR Round and I'm sure it's a lot of Fun to Shoot But that's about it! I own 5 22LR Guns and a 22LR Rifle and I just purchased a 22LR/22Mag Diamondback Sidekick and it is single/double action with a swing out barrel and dual cylinders! This is a Western Style all metal gun with a 4 1/4" barrel! NOW THAT is FUN! (y) If you want to have even more Fun than ever, try the Kel-Tec CP33 with two 33 round magazines and a 33 Round Mag with a 17 round extension which gives you a 50 round Magazine! I purchased this 22LR Gun about 5 months ago and I have shot at least 1000 rounds without a failure of any kind except a few Dud Rounds! I purchased a Auto Loader from "LUDEX" which makes these Hi Cap Magazines a dream to load! I shoot once a week at my LGR and I'm also a member of a Local Outdoor Range here in Florida! Yes, I'm 78 years old & retired But I don't Golf but I love to shoot my guns and I have more fun Now and I'm saving a bunch of Money on Ammo & That's FUN!(y):coffee:

I have my 2" Taurus 942 and it makes an excellent companion and trainer for my 2" Taurus Model 856 and 3" Taurus Model 85. So yes the Taurus 942 is a good revolver to have if you also own snub nosed centerfire revolvers. Another thing is that 22lr snub nosed revolvers are great kit guns as they are easy to put into a tackle box or carry while hiking.

I will definitely agree that the Kel-Tec CP33 will make you smile. What's not to love about having a 33 round mag in an accurate pistol. I always love the look on peoples faces when I am blasting clay birds at 85 yards (farthest my local range goes to) and they are waiting for me to reload. While the Kel-Tec PMR30 isn't as accurate as the CP33, it too is fun to shoot with its 30 round magazine.

I also enjoy my Glock G44 with the ProMag 18 round mags too.

I usually take the Taurus 942, Kel-Tec CP33, and Glock G44 with me every time I go to the range. I shoot all of my centerfire handguns then switch to having fun with my rimfire handguns.

I have the older wood grips for all 4 of my Taurus small frames.

I recently got a set of the uncle mikes rubber boot grips which are also really great for the 2" 22 lr 942's. One wears the old wood grips and one wears these boot grips, best of both worlds.

And yesterday I found a seller on ebay that has a box of what look like the old uncle mikes rubber combat grips, I ordered a set to try on.

I have one 856 Ultralite that's pretty snappy to shoot but is ok with the old wood grips that I like, I'm going try these combat grips on it. These have rubber covering the backstrap. I rember liking them way back when I owned a 3" scandium j-frame.
