Strengths- flawless reliability and simplicity; combat accuracy effectiveness is par-none; fits all (80%) civilian, LEO and Military needs the world around.
Weakness: it’s not a GLOCK 19 that does the same as above in a slightly smaller package.

it's a full sized standard model, just like the original G17
the G17 has the original size grip, magazine, sight radius
the standard sized NATO service pistol used by military forces around the world, I would say it's the most practical model for general use.

The main strengths are its inherent reliability, simplicity, and ruggedness.
It doesn't have any weakness as a service pistol. Some people may prefer other pistols' attributes, but as a service pistol for a military or police force there is no finer choice.

There is no "weakness" of the G17 except maybe that it is not as small as the G19 or G26, or that it does not fire off a loaded magazine as quickly as its G18 brother.
The Glock 17 strengths are shared by its smaller siblings, it just works, and works.

With my hands the size is a strength as well.
The only weakness, in my eyes, is the barrel is a bit long for comfortable carry IWB. The 19X solves this for me.
But, man, I do love the 17.

All the strengths mentioned above are true.
The biggest weakness imho for most all Glock’s is the cheap plastic sights they put on them. For what you pay and the money this company has made over the nearly 40 years they have been making them they should put high quality metal tritium sights on them all! At no added cost

My Glock 17 Gen 4 has no weaknesses. Size restricts carry options - that's it. Runs and runs and runs ..... and runs. Any ammo from the hottest U-W to mild junk all with aplomb . Takes a 31-32-33 rd. mag just in case. TFX Pro sights. Best part, it does not put cases to my head like that little G43 does.

Since nobody offers my favored Ameriglo CAP sights standard, I dont see it as a weakness. Though free night sights would not be unwelcome!

Dont get me wrong I love my Glock’s there awesome tools that work every time. Just plastic sights the Gun deserves better and that’s that’s the first thing I do to them. They are just place holders.
