Stoeger single trigger coach gun, anyone not have issues?

Hi guys,

I'm searching the net for issues with the single trigger Stoeger SxS shotguns (double defense and coach guns) and it seems there are enough reports to make me question getting one, but I still did and I pick it up in about 1.5 weeks.

Who here has a Stoeger single trigger SxS, does yours fire the 2nd barrel without a second pull of the trigger? If yes, how did you deal with it and is it fixed?

Thanks,

Mine has 2 triggers as well. I've seen some videos on youtube that address the single trigger models, you may check there to see if anyone has a fix.

I'm familiar with the double trigger guns.

I've found several references to the single trigger firing the 2nd chamber without a second pull of the trigger.

We usually only hear about the bad one on the web so I'm wondering how big of an issue this is really. 1 out of 100, 1 out of 1,000, 1 out of 2, etc!

There seems to be lots of their single trigger double defense sxs's out there but I've only found one or two reports about them.

I'm wondering if most of the CAS people who reported issues are with guns that have work done to lighten/speed up the trigger.

Hard to say because I no replies from single trigger owners!

For what it's worth, you don't see many single trigger models used in cowboy action shooting. What I've heard and read is that they are not quite as durable as the double trigger model. Other than that, it's a great gun at a very reasonable price. You have to admit that a coach is pretty damn cool and it is an absolute hoot to shoot. Congratulations and enjoy!

I used to own the double trigger version but I just didn't like the double triggers. I even reversed the triggers so you can rake them for two really fast shots but I still wanted a single trigger so I traded it.

I used mine for trap and it worked great except it didn't really fit on the gun racks. I regularly let guys shoot a round with it and everyone who tried it loved it. I probably helped sell a couple dozen!

AZ - in a conventional sense, yes. However, if one can reasonably claim that the burst was caused strictly by mechanical failure, on an unmodified gun, I think one would not have an issue. That's my experience based on this type of issue occurring at a DU Great Outdoors event, with plenty of cops close enough to have heard the double fire. Matter of fact, in most instances, the two barrels firing sounded like one.

Not if they have two triggers and you pull them both at the same time. What is illegal is having more than one round fire with a single pull of THE trigger. Of course malfunctions happen.

Youre mistaken on what constitutes an nfa item.

Otherwise the kel tech double barrel pump shotgun would be illegal.

Or that double barrel 1911.

Having more than one barrel fire at the same time does not make a machine gun.

I owned the double trigger and I didn't like it. I'm used to a single trigger so that's what I'm going to stick with.

I searched the entire internet for the single trigger issues and there are many positive reviews of the single trigger coach guns including their sxs double defense and there are actually only two or three reports of the single trigger issue.

It seems the that people see one video of the gun with an issue and then somehow it's considered factual for all of them and is repeated every time someone asks the question!

I'm no longer worried about it.

I've shot a couple hundred shells through mine without issue. Bought it used because it was so cheap. Just thought a spair shotgun for $150 was worth it. I like it more then I thought I would. Not the Finest shotgun I own, but nice and solid.

Good on you for finding that deal!

Mine is new, the dealer over ordered so he had to clear some out. I don't think he made a $1 off me!

These guns have a fun factor that you wouldn't expect. I'm looking forward to picking it up. I ordered a recoil pad and will be fitting it the first evening I have the gun!
