I've been running Holosun's on my competition pistols since I started in Carry Optics over 2 years ago. I use the 8 MOA circle dot 407 CO X2.

Speaking with a fellow shooter, he noted that the SRO was definitely an advantage because of the larger window, allowing the shooter to continue to see and track the dot in the window for faster splits. Made sense but I haven't gotten one yet.

So, is it worth it to pick up an SRO for carry optics?

So many good options out there now in the red dot world, certainly the SRO being one of them. If you like your Holosun there is a new 507 competition that is set to be released shortly and is already getting some very good reviews.

IF and only if you’re going to be using it strictly for CO I greatly prefer CMORE optics. The window shape is better and the reticle size choices are far superior for carry optics. Humble marksman touches on this in a bunch of his videos as well. That being said I will be trying out the Holosun competition optic as soon as I can get my hands on one. I expect that to be a fine choice as well. I’ll link down below to the RTS2 which was designed by a competitive shooter specifically for CO.

I’ve heard more than one person say they have found the larger window to actually make their follow up shots slower. I want to like the SRO, but there are a few minor concerns. It is a little on the large side and limits a few duty holster options. A few reputable folks have reported loose battery connections, but have easy tricks to remedy the issue. I don’t believe it is as proven and durable as the RMR, and really the SRO may have never been designed for extreme duty use.

I clearly stated the inquiry was about competition use.

Very interested in the Holosun 507 Comp and would like to get one. Keep waiting for it to drop. If it isn't available by the middle of June, I'll probably go with the SRO.

It’s not a duty optic and isn’t designed to take abuse…. Trijicon makes that pretty clear.

I would make sure that whatever you get, get your hands on one in person to look at first. Some reports state that the 507 comp’s window isn’t as big as it looks in pictures. Just an FYI. I haven’t seen one yet so I can’t say whether that’s true or internet poo.

I really like my SRO, but I have really gravitated to the Holosun for two reasons. I have found that I pick up the green quicker and I like their MRS options. I think the 507 Comp reticle looks like something I may have to try out.

I put the 5moa on my carry gun because I already had it. I just like the 2.5 better and it's plenty big enough for me to see so I don't see why I'd go bigger.
Yeah options are starting to pick up. The challenge being I’m trying to find one that has the least “starburst”.

Then there is the problem of shooting in dry fire vs on the clock.
