I have had my 27 since the middle 90's and also a 26 and 23 now. Love to shoot them and have shot all types of ammo, factory and reloads, Ya, I know reloads??? Has never been a problem, I have gotten a KKM and it work geat.

I have a cousin in ILL that has just gotten into shooting and loves it... First he got a Ruger 380 and he just got a 26 to join the Glock Club..

Some person at his range has told him not to shoot a certin type of ammo because of the "Sparks" that come out of the barrel, meaning its scratching / causing damage to the barrel? He told me this tonight and I responded that what if anyting that is seen past the barrel is just unburned powder?? He said, NO that was 'sparks' according to this other person,, I never did get the brand of ammo -

I told him about this forum and that he should join and post the question..

I do not see him here as yet, So Iam putting it out there

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this... Is this range person on Target or just telling stories out of school??

Thanks

Whoever told him that is an idiot.

It's the powder, different powders and burning deterrents will all make a difference in varying light levels.
Here is a video of black powder, which besides sparks you will get flame.

I couldn't find a good low light video of pistols using smokeless powder but this will give you a idea of the amount of spark/flash using modern ammunition.

One of the reasons ammunition companies strive to use low flash powders for self defense duty ammunition,it's the powder. SJ 40

Who would of thunk it that igniting a powder charge with a primer could generate some "sparks".:faint:
