Sneaky Pete or PDA type holsters

Does anyone on the forum use one? I did a history search and came up with one thread with 2 responses. I saw them advertised in the most recent edition of Freedom/ NRA mag, it looks like an interesting concept.

I did a web search and ran across a forum with a 9 plus pages of negative responses mostly about the company. It started with a guy that ordered one and asked for a model that accommodates a LCR with a laser and when the holster arrived, no fit. So he tried to contact Sneaky Pete, and they asked him for some specific information on his gun with pictures that he provided. Then the thread got stupid with other posters telling the guy to remove the laser and use the holster that way. This thread ran over several years and Sneaky Pete took a customer service beating over it.

I like the concept. You wear the holster on your belt, the holster is the concealment, looks like a PDA holster for a phone or tablet. Has kydex inserts to support your holster specific to your gun. Flap is held closed by two strong magnets. Clip on or slide on attachment.

Read somewhere that the holsters are USA design, made off shore, shipped back for sale in USA. The website has a video with the guy standing in front of a US flag in a shop/garage. I'm going to do more research on these, but I have also read that SP does not have the market cornered on these holsters and that others are out there. I know that Blue Stone Safety Products offers one too. SP seemed to have more options in color, attachment, and pistols. going to search further on this.

I can't speak to the holster style as I have no experience with it. Although, my view is you might as well open carry as most people will know what's in it, just to obvious.

I can share a similar negative experience I had with SP CS. Shortly after the G43 was released I ordered a leather magazine protector. The item I received did not even come close to fitting. I called SP CS, sorry sent wrong one, send it back we'll send you correct size. Received second one and again, mag did not fit, way to tight. Called SP CS again, this time they want me to email them the measurements of the G43 magazine. Guess I'm now a design and beta tester. At this point I just sent the second one back and had my CC credited. Won't buy from them again.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, in general, people are not that observant. What is very common these days is to carry a cell phone in a holster type carrier on the belt at the hip. Plenty of people do that, far more than those who would CC in a PDA type holster. With the flap closed on the case, it is a generic brown leather case.

To someone who is clued into the world of firearms and knows what a SP holster looks like, they might recognize it. To those that are not, and that is the majority of the population, it is a brown leather case. No firearm is showing so unless someone is walking around with xray eyes, it is a brown leather case.

At this point in life, I no longer care about printing. I have a permit for my state and the Utah NR. The SP is not open carrying. I'm more concerned about fit and function of the holster.

I have, and occasionally use, a SP for a Walther PPK. Mostly wear it in "firearm-unfriendly" environments where IWB/AlienGear/or pocket carry are not optimal, such as very light summer clothing. It is well-made with leather of good quality, two strong magnets, and two strong belt clips. You'll note from the pics that (a) it does not accommodate mags w/ finger extension; (b) it bears a logo which, while discreet, remains antithetical to those who wish to remain grey; and (c) even for a small weapon, is relatively large. It doesn't get used often, but I'm glad to have it in the inventory.

I just followed the suggestion of the web site to lay the gun on a piece of paper and trace around the edges of your gun and measure or a piece of card board and cut to size to give an idea of size. My plan is for a CZ 75D PCR which they sort of offer as a size(mentioned as a CZ 75 P-07) and it gives a "sort of" size of 7.2" X 5.2" which "about" the correct size. That would be a pretty big sized case.

I'm gonna ponder this a bit further, do the cardboard cut out and consider if I want a case that large on my hip.

I've seen a couple old gents wearing them, and IMHO there ain't nothing sneaky about 'em. Of course, I already knew what a Sneaky Pete was, but then again that's the kind of thing a common thug would know too. Way too big to be a cellphone or PDA. I thought it was an interesting idea too, until I saw a couple 'in the wild.' Now, and considering the age of the fellas I saw wearing them, I see it as an invitation to get rolled from behind and robbed of your weapon before you ever get a hand on it.

For what it is worth, I have a Sneaky Pete Perfect Holster on the way for my 43X.

i have used a Sneaky Pete Holster on a subcompact Kimber previously. They are not small but work as designed and are not obvious to 99% of the world.

i moved from my ranch property in Coryell County, Texas to a slightly more urban community in Copperas Cove, Texas adjacent to Killeen, Texas. Killeen is a rough town at times. I do go to Killeen on business and etc.

It will be a platform for my iPhone, small knife, Glock 43X, and maybe a writing instrument. I will pocket carry a spare mag in a case. Just being prepared.

After being interested in Sneaky Pete holsters for several years, I finally bit the bullet (see what I did there?) and got my wife to give me one as a gift. ;) I got the Glock 43 model, the black leather Cross version, with the pinky extension option. It is a VERY nice holster—excellent craftsmanship, excellent function. Is it large? Yes it is, so I don’t use it every day or for every situation/application. Typically, I wear it under a suit coat or sport jacket, but I occasionally wear it “out in the open,” although most days I use an IWB or pocket holster. The Sneaky Pete is a quality niche product that does what it is designed to do, and does it very well.

A friend of mine who is not a fan of SP holsters recently joked that he is holding out for “a Sneaky Pete that will accommodate concealed carry of a Glock 17L with a 33-round Glock mag.” Might need to bring in a consultant from Samsonite for that model.
