Anybody think an SKS would make a decent house defense gun?

I do. I’m not familiar with current Canadian gun laws but assuming you can have 5 round stripper clips and can’t have rapid access to a pistol at your bedside on the way to a safe, sounds like a good option.

What would be your choice between a 30-30 carbine,SKS or a short barreled 12 gauge shotgun . Thanks in advance. Where I live my choice of defense firearms is very limited.

Not sure what short barreled means in CA. Honestly any of them sound like options. Magazine capacity and reloading time would factor in to the equation too. How does Canadian law look at self defense?
