22LR pistols and rifles are becoming more and more popular these days due to rising ammo cost and an increased interest in general preparedness. Sig's 22LR pistol offering is the Mosquito and here's what I've found with it so far...

Pros:
-Bottom line up front---cheap to shoot. Who doesn't like that?
-Accurate. The fixed barrel design lends itself to good accuracy.
-Ergonomics. It's a 90% scaled down P226 and many new shooters I've lent it out to like the smaller grip circumference.
-Many different finishes available
-3 dot adjustable sights
-MIL/LE pricing is available
-With the exception of the slide mounted safety the controls mimic it's bigger brothers in the Sig line up making weapons manipulation drills applicable to the guns many would use in a real world environment.

Cons:
-More complex to break down and maintain than some competitors (not bad by any means but I can see how some new shooters would be intimidated by it).
-10 round magazines standard
-Magazine cost
-Like many 22LR pistols, it seems to be somewhat picky about ammo.
-Magazine cost

Here's a video with some day & night shooting, disassembly/assembly of the pistol, and discussion of the pros/cons of the pistol.

I just think this is all weird. But I have experienced with my walther p22 the horrible things i have been reading about ftf, fte, stovepipes, etc. But I just bought this Sig Sauer Mosquito FDE Threaded barrel. All I can say is this thing is the best .22 i've had. It loves CCI's, Remington 22 Thunderbolts, Winchester super x, and Centurion. I was kinda scared to buy it also because it was used. I was taking a big risk, I knew 22's are finiky on ammo. But I am happy that I bought it. I'd post a pic but do not know how:(

I was aware of the bad reviews on the Mosquisto when I bought it 5 monthes ago. I chose it mostly because of its look and also its low price: it would be my learning gun. Since then I have shot about 1500 round with it. Either I was lucky or Sig has recently corrected this pistol flaws but I have experienced less than 10 incidents, FTE, FTF, ... mostly during the first month. Only one "bad" point : I shoot better with my Glock 17 which I bought the same day. I am a beginner: I started shooting 6 monthes ago. I never had any incident with the Glock after about 1500 shots also.

I have two, they both run very good. I polished the feed ramps and filed part of the lip away. I run federal, thunderbolt, american eagle and mini mags through them. I also run them mostly dry. I coated them with militec dry lube per instructions and then put just a tiny amount of their grease on rail contacts(applied with tip of toothpick). The most I have run through at one time is 200 rds. I did not clean or lube during this. The only failures I had were ammo related and the 2nd strike made them go bang.
