Hi Mas!

I just got an Inforce WML for my 870 and was thinking were to put it on the FAB shotgun rail. I was formerly using a Surefire G2 on a VTAC light mount and the only viable location then was at 9 o'clock. With the Inforce WML I can either mount it at 9 o'clock or 6 o'clock, are there any advantages to either? Thanks!

If your light needs to be manually operated instead of activated by a pressure switch, you'll need it where your forward hand can naturally and quickly reach it.

Personally, I like the light at 6 o'clock below the muzzle, the better to work around corners either left or right. If 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock are the only choices, and you can activate it equally well in either position, AND if it's primarily a home defense firearm, here's what I'd suggest:

Go through your house with an eye to what interdiction points would work best if you had to "take a stand" against a criminal intruder. If it's most likely to be around a "right side barricade," the light should go at 3 o'clock to the right of the barrel, and vice versa with a "left side barricade" position. This will require you to expose less of your head and upper body from behind cover while "lighting up" the danger zone and, if necessary, firing; it will also reduce the likelihood of you being blinded by light splashback into your eyes reflecting from the side of the barrier that faces you.

best,
Mas
