...and now my new HK45T doesn't seem quite so special!

I was out shooting with my brother and a good friend of his that has a late 90s era USP 45 Tactical-he let me put a couple magazines through it. What a pleasure to shoot! the recoil feels smoother than my HK 45T. Trigger is somewhat better on the USP also.

He tried out my HK45 and didn't seem super impressed to be honest. LOL!
In all fairness, I only have 400 rounds through my HK 45, so that probably makes a difference. Still, I am now on the lookout for a USP 45 T.

I would be curious to hear about GT's experience between the two different weapons, especially from those that own both platforms?

I haven't shot the HK45. I do have the HK USP 45 tactical, regular USP 45, USP 45 compact along with a 40 cal. I do like them :D
pgg,
That's quite a collection!

I once owned a late 1994 manufactured USP 40, as well as a USP 45 and USP 45 Tactical. I sold all of them many years ago and have always regretted it. So I am now in OFFICIALLY full throttle "acquisition mode".

glowrod,
Agreed. The 1913 rail and grip of the HK45T are certainly nice features. Funny thing was, when I shot my friends(USP) the other day the grip didn't seem as fat as I remembered?
Regardless, I have no plans on selling or trading off that HK45T, though I may have some trigger work done on it after I have put a couple of thousand rounds downrange...

The match trigger in the Expert/Tactical/Elite is the best trigger that HK has in their pistols. If you don't mind the extra cost then I think those are a more enjoyable model(s) to buy. You could always have a match trigger installed in a USP but then you miss out of some of the other benefits of the other models. The Expert has the adjustable sights, barrel fitted to slide, longer barrel. I have a jet funnel kit installed as well on the Expert and 18 rounds mags.

I've never owned an Expert or Elite, but I see a few of them(the Expert)for well under a grand(45ACP) on GunBroker these days. I might have to try one out.

There are some pretty good deals currently to be had out there. I was fortunate back in the day to pick up an Expert that came with the HK aluminum case.
Seems like there are more USP Tactical's available for pretty good prices. I have an older USP Tactical that just takes a beating and keeps on going. I've lost the the thread protector twice now on it and the threads still look perfect, I said the heck with it and haven't replaced it figuring I would just let it go as it is my truck gun for now. I keep my other Tactical in the safe. I would like to find a 9mm Elite at some point, they're a bit more difficult to come across.
You won't be disappointed with the Expert, they shoot very well.
If you want to up your buddy, pick up a Mark 23 and see what he has to say after he shoots that.

Very cool

I definitely think the USP Series is a couple steps up in quality over the other HK polymers.
Although I love the ergos on my HK45 and P30, there is something special about the USP...Looking forward to getting the Jet-Funnel kit and a few 16rd magazines for the USP40T. I'm like a kid at Christmas time here lately. :D
