I haven’t had a chance to shoot it yet but I just picked up a Shield S15 mag for my G48

Seated in the magwell, you can see that the magazines are situating the rounds in a different position relative to the breechface etc

Pic#1 is an OEM Magazine
Pic#2 is the S15 magazine

It SEEMS as though the S15 round sits closer to the breechface than the OEM mag, and angles the bullet slightly to the left.

I won’t have a chance to shoot it until this weekend so until then I am wondering if any of you who have used the S15 before have a similar report.

I did cycle live rounds through the gun without a problem

What do you think?

This is the best presentation I have seen describing the issue. And the design fix for the S15 is so obvious that I cannot for the life of me understand why they haven't done it yet.

Damm what a buzz-Kill!!

I just bought 3 of them

I thought that the issues were addressed with the 2nd Generation? If not, why are they still selling these?

My rounds do not seem to seat below the breech and they are feeding properly

I will give them a go hopefully this weekend and see what happens

Fo you think that the problem is that in the video, the guy is using Gocks mag release instead of the metal one by shield?

the problem identified in the video is that the round sits further back with the SA mags compared to OEM, creating the feed issues.

So the question is why is shield still selling a magazine that isn’t working the way it should??
The only explanation I have is that they have a boatload of inventory, and the mags do work more than they don't for some guns. And because they don't want to scrap their inventory they will wait to fix this in the Gen 3 when the inventory of Gen 2 is depleted.

I'm sure the folks at SA have seen the video I posted, they know the problem, and the fix is obvious (put the round in the EXACT same position as the OEM mag. But this requires a tooling change and a little more bending at the top to move the round forward a scooch.

You are comparing apples to oranges. Who's to say that is normal how the rounds normally sit with the aftermarket mags? You jumped to a conclusion without any answers. Go shoot it and see if you really have issues, if- then start to hypothesize.

You must use the SA magazine release with these mags. My 14 gen 2 S15 mags have worked well across 4 different frames. 25k plus and I just started getting malfs occasionally. Sent all the springs back for their spring for life warranty. New ones are on the way to me as we speak. I'll let you know if they return to working normal. I also ordered 10 gen 3's. Hopefully, the gen 3's are better, but the gen 2's have served me well. If they didn't I'd be using OEM and be perfectly happy.

And yet, in the two and a half years that I have been using my G48 with SA mags I have yet to have a failure of any kind. Maybe it's because I am not looking for something to complain about, but I do go to the range at least once a week, weather permitting. Along with whatever else I brought out that week, I run a mag or two of ammo through all of my Shield Arms magazines, as I mentioned, I've never had any issues. Certainly I have enough confidence in them that my G48 with the SA mags is my EDC.

As Hydra-SHOKz mentioned, you must use the SA mag release as the stock Glock polymer release will quickly become degraded on the metal magazine body

I think you shouldn’t hand cycle ammo. It doesn’t indicate how your gun will run while under recoil and it’s a safety concern.

As far as the difference in how the round sits, that may or may not be an issue. Your gun may run fine, or it may not. The only way to tell is to test it extensively under live fire.

So glad I saw this thread.
I was very close to buying some of these Shield mags.
Tired of beta testing products for manufacturers.

Maybe next year…or not…
