Has anyone received the new S15 gen 3 mags? Are there any problems? I received 2 and one will only load 14 rounds, not the 15 its supposed to hold. There was a group on facebook for the Glock 43X and today I noticed its gone. Too many complaints on the mags. As they say, if you cant stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

I own 14 gen 2's. Got 20k+ on them through 3 different frames. SA standard mag catch. Started getting failures every once in a while a couple of weeks ago out of the blue. SA replaced the springs under their springs for life warranty. Back to running 100%. I have 10 gen 3's showing up today with hopes of shooting them tomorrow. I've had good luck with them. I'll post my results on the gen 3's. The 43X/48 w/S15 mags makes an excellent carry gun.

I got my 10 gen 3's today. They definitely wiggle less for and aft. Metal seems a little sturdier. I like the new finish better than the polished blued like finish. Other than the mag body, everything seems the same as the gen 2's. Hopefully, folks will find these work better for them. I'll try them out tomorrow.

ETA: as I'm sitting here dryfiring one of my 43X's I noticed the new gen 3's really lock in better with the SA standard mag catch. I've never had an issue with them dropping mags with gen 2's, but I know some have. Might pull my calibers out tomorrow and compare.

I have three of the Gen III mags. Two are reliable. One will intermittently failure to chamber a round somewhere in the 15 rounds, and will not lock back open. Other two I have zero problems with. My gun is a Gen II G48 black without rail. The other two generations of magazines were unreliable to the point of I just went ahead a purchased a Gen V G19 MOS, and it's been flawless. If I can pick up another two Gen III mags that work I will go back to the G48 as a summer gun.

No, still has Glock OEM polymer mag catch installed. If he wanted to swap out I could change it for him.
Why people keep trying to use the OEM catch with an S15 is puzzling to me. Shield Arms says it should be replaced to use S15 mags... and many, many posts on GT confirm that it should be replaced. You need to go with S15 mags or OEM mags... you should not try to use both in the same gun.

What's with "the" steel catch? SA sells a standard catch and a premium catch. The premium provides much better engagement of the magazines, is easier on the magazines & costs only $6 more than the standard catch. I have the premium steel catch & Gen 2 S15's. I have fired around 500 rounds with this set-up with NO problems. Yesterday, I fired 4 full S15 mags through one of my 43X's without one hitch: 1 with 115 FMJ, 1 with 115 Gold Dot, 1 with 147 HST, & 1 with 147 FMJ. (4 different magazines.)

Do the pics of the Gen3 on the website look the same as the mags received? in particular, I'm wondering if they corrected the issue where the round sits back further than the OEM (because the OEM is plastic lined steel). To correct there should be a slight offset to push the round a little further forward to match the OEM round location.

Well it's not nothing. You have to buy the mags for around $40+ ea, the mag catch and you can't use your OEM mags. Not saying that's bad as to each their own but it is something.

Yes Michael to each his own.
For me anyway, for a small investment of a few magazines, a magazine release, ammo to make sure it’s reliable, and an hour of your time you get a 50% increase in firepower….that’s a significant tactical advantage

My 2 cents anyway😉

Appreciate the info. My friend (who is getting on in years) purchased the mag at the LGS he bought the 43X. Apparently the sales person never mentioned potential reliabilty issues. Anyway, I haven’t had a Glock in over three years and subsequently haven’t kept up with Glock related accessories. But I did learn something from this thread. Will pass along the info and options to my friend. All good!

I have 3 Gen 2 Shield Arms mags to go with my 48MOS with SA mag catch. Nary a problem with any of the three over hundreds of rounds. My OEM mags sometimes drop free, but I no longer use them except at the range. So no problems there.
