See so many posts about latest, greatest EDC purchase. Seems like today the perfect EDC has to be MOS ready, accessory rail, stippled, 15 round or greater capacity, and able to IWB. People seem to be changing their EDC more frequently than their socks. I’m not being critical, but am curious to hear and learn from those who have been carrying same pistol or revolver for 5 years or longer. What do you like about your EDC? What would cause you to swap out to another?

I carried a S&W 649, G26, and Sig P232 for many years.

Been CCing for 43 years. The last 15 years I've carried a 442 or a G33. Seems like its been the G33 mostly. I'm beginning to get a wandering eye for another favorite lately. Considering something with a longer sight radius and an RMR.

I don't quite qualify, but sort of. I started carrying a Smith & Wesson M&P Compact back circa 2005 or 2006 when they debuted, and I carried it for about eight years. I then switched to carrying a Glock 26 which I sold last year (though I know I'll get another one some day). I am now carrying the newer version of my old M&P Compact which is now called the Subcompact. Which do I like better? I can't say. The G26 and M&P Subcompact are both great guns. That said, I have four other guns I carry regularly, but none of them are more than three years old. One is a replacement of an older pistol. I replaced my original Shield from 2014 with a M2.0 Shield earlier this year. I guess you could say both the M&P Compact/Subcompact and Shield have been part of my system for years. Most of my guns are older designs by the way. In fact, about the latest and greatest gun I own is a Ruger LCP II which is already a few years old. I generally like pistols that have a track record. Glock is great for that, but there are obviously other options as well. I've owned six Glocks, but admittedly I'm not carrying one these days.

I carried a Glock 26 gen 3 for over 5 years. It was great, but is big by modern standards. I changed to the 43 for slimline comfort. Had it maybe 3 years. It was also great. My brother wanted it and I found a killer deal on a 365 so that's what I'm currently using.

To answer JCN, I shoot all of them well. Winning BUG gun matches and hitting steel out to 50+ yards. The 365 is probably my worst, but it's still new.

I’ve ccw’d a Glock 19 since 2012 (recently started ccw’ing a G32), and outside of caliber they’re the same pistol. I’ve gotten used to dressing around the gun and I shoot them well.

Lots of folks get hung up on concealability, whole shootability goes out the window.

I also have worn the same pair of Red Wings since 2004.

G19 with a grip chop job has been carried for awhile. Just bought a blue label P365xL with RMR so that will be my EDC now. Bought a couple 20rd mags for it so I am set.

I pretty much go with my ppk, 228 and kimber pro carry 11.

In 2005 I switched to the Glock 19 from the SIG DA/SA pistols that I had been carrying on/off duty since 1990. I EDCed a 19 (different Gens and variations) up until this year (except for 2016 & 2017 when I experimented with a couple of single stack 9mms). In March of this year I switched my EDC to a Shadow Systems MR918 - same holsters and mags as my Glock 19s, but a slightly better pistol - FOR ME.

My wife made the switch to the Glock 26 in 2006. She has EDCed a Gen 3 26 since then in a FIST IWB ultra thin kydex holster. Before that she had carried an assortment of different guns since she started carrying in 1985.

I go the other way. I pick an objective performance standard and I pick the smallest, most comfortable gun I have that I can reliably clear those benchmarks.

So that way shootability is the primary goal. But by practicing, you don’t necessarily need a large gun.

My initial shootability metric was to be able to go 50/50 on the FBI qual, but over time that got too simple.

So my current minimum shootability metric is the Federal Air Marshal qualification.

And I have been carrying a P365 since they came out a couple of years ago. But newly with a red dot.

Been CCWing the G19 (top of photo) since 1999. In 2016 or 2017 I replaced the night sight. This year I replaced the front sight with AmeriGlo orange. I twist rubber bands around the grip to give me a more secure grip.

Both G19s and I have gone through many training courses together. They're old friends when I hold them in my hand and when I present them from holster. Even the holster and where I carry on my body has remained the same. Muscle memory and all that.

CCW of the week or of the month? I'll pass.

I've had my gen. 4 G19 for about five years now I think. The reason I carry it is because all the cool kids do.
Honestly, it's because of it's simplicity, reliability and my being able to shoot it very well. I'm not into modding my EDC and couldn't care less about all the MOS craziness. I'll never carry AIWB with an MOS and weapon light either.
I carry what I need and the G19 is it.

5 YEARS !!!!! I'm lucky if I go 5 days.

Hot weather, cold weather, sunshine, rain, snow, where I am going, how I am dressed, what I am doing, do I have a jacket, am I wearing shorts etc..

I tailor my weapons based on my needs at the time.

Guns are cheap, why force one into a role it was never intended for.... Simply choose the correct weapon for that day.... It makes life MUCH easier.

Several different 2“ & 3” Revolvers since about 1979, usually 5 shot and sometimes with of the addition of a Full Size Revolver or Duty Pistol. For the last 5 years it has been a Ruger LCR in 9mm or a Charter Arms Undercover, the additional Pistol recently is a Gen2 Glock 19 that I have owned since 1990
