A friend of mine posted photos on another board of a Ruger Vaquero with a color casehardened frame. He says it came that way from the factory. Not calling him out, but did Ruger sell Vaquero's with casehardening? Its a .44 caliber.

Ruger has made Vaquero's with a "color case hardened" frame finish, but it was not real "case hardening." Ruger just used a coating type finish to simulate the case-hardened look. So his frame finish is legit, but you could still say Ruger never made "case hardened" Vaqueros.

They still offer that crappy finish? I had a beautiful one. I kept it oiled down in a humidity controled safe. It rusted in 2 plaves on the finish. Those places were in the ourple areas of the "color case finish." Bugged me so much, I had a local guy reblue it. He didn't do a great job either.
